Converting from 680 to 750
I've been using a Treo 680 for several years now (replaced a 650,) and I have just purchased an ATT Treo 750 running WM6. I'm hoping there is an easy way to migrate all of my information on my 680 over to the 750. I haven't installed ActiveSync, or tried anything as yet, I don't want to end up losing years of contacts and work. Question simply put: can this be done easily, or am I going to have to spend a lot of time manually?

Re: Converting from 680 to 750
Hello MMcK, in case nobody told you before, Welcome to BrightHand

The easiest and most painless approach is to sync your 680 to Outlook first, double-check everything is transferring without errors (be aware for those dreaded OLERR errors !!) and then move on. Everything should be transferred without a problem.
I currently have both 680 and 500v (WM6) syncing towards Outlook, no issues whatsoever.Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001
M105 (retired but still working), T|E (sold)
T3 + ADAPT BT GPS + Viamichelin 3.2 + Palm WiFi card
Treo 500v with WM6.1 and Treo 680 in the drawer
Desire S - rooted -Virtuous Quattro beta 5 - Ice Cream Sandwich
Acer Iconia A500 Tablet - rooted - Thor A500 ROM v14.2 - Honeycomb 3.2.1
Having a rather busy schedule at work, so I am not around that much lately.

Frak! LOL I was afraid you would both say Outlook... 3 operational computers in the house, and not a single one running it; just Express. hmmmmm Maybe the boss has a copy I can buy. Conversion may have to wait for the weekend. Will let ya'll know how it goes. (Fingers & toes crossed against OLERR errors!)

Ding! Bonus points for you.

For what it's worth, I've previously used Outlook solely as a PIM repository, and it's worked quite well, though now I'm more in the habit of Exchange servers.LOL I was afraid you would both say Outlook... 3 operational computers in the house, and not a single one running it; just Express. hmmmmm Maybe the boss has a copy I can buy. If you reaaaaaaally hate outlook, and you don't need a whole lot of category support, there's always goosync for palm and windows mobile. It syncs your calendar (and with a premium upgrade your contacts and tasks).
It's not perfect, but it's one of the precious few over the air sync options that are not exchange-based.

Re: Converting from 680 to 750
Well... LOL After a major aborted attempt & several hours trying to get my 750 to speak to Outlook (my 680 behaved and did it on the first try,) meg upon meg of data & program dumps to hold the full MSOffice07 (not just Outlook) and TONS of frustration (computer punting practice anyone??), it all works seamlessly!!!!! Yeah!!!!! (OK. So, somewhere there was probably "how-to" in the book, but I ate the covers and colored on the rest lol) Heck, my poor 18gig hd needed a good cleaning anyway.
TY all for the help!

Re: Converting from 680 to 750
The main problem with such transferences you are attempting, is that there are few options that engage multiplatform interoperability. Outlook offers one solid platform onto which you can bolt several more. The main problems with Outlook are two, IME, price and stability. Outlook is very useful on a great many factors, but if you are only willing to use it for transferences, it's a costly option. Many Outlook advocates, me included, turn it into the mainframe of our personal management, but if you are not willing to attempt so, then you're kinda buying a truck just to move between houses. And about stability; Outlook can get along with a lot of resources, local or web-based, but its inner built, in the first place, makes it vulnerable to many attacks; and second, not all its add-ons and enhancements keep it stable.

Re: Converting from 680 to 750
Been a bit, but just wanted to say TY for all the help. Change over finally went well, including getting my Treo to sync w/ my new laptop running Vista (eewww lol). Had a small problem w/ Mobipocket, but even that turned out to be a ID10T error. Now a very happy Treo user again. TY TY
