Default Anyone connect an external antenna?

I noticed on the back of the Treo there are two ports. The documentation that comes with the unit does not speak on it. I am assuming one of them if not both can be used to connect an external antenna for those weak signal areas. Anyone using such a thing for the Treo? I have an external antenna for the Dell expresscard wireless modem for Verizon but since i am in the process of switching over to Sprint with the Treo I wonder if anyone has used something external for it?

    Thanks for any info!

I'm not sure what you mean by two ports; as I recall, there's just the one. It is, however, an external antenna jack. Since such things are standardized, you can use pretty much any cellular antenna that you can find the right "pigtail," or adapter cable, for.

Can you name an example, Adama? I'm interested in what the "standardized" impedance for such antennae might be.

I'm not an antenna expert, but all the systems I've seen list impedance as 50 ohms. Wilson is the de facto major brand, with a variety of auto, building, and marine antennas. I actually own one of their little ones that I use for testing sometimes.

That's basically what I think. I just thought that perhaps cellphones used different design approaches, especially given the need for portability; if it is 50 Ohms, it sure wastes the battery. But I suppose that's just necessary if you want to communicate on RF.
