Default Treo 680 shuts down searching for network

Attempted to upgrade from Palm Desktop 4 to 6.2 on my Vista laptop. Seemed to go OK, was able to run the pgm & see my data. However, after running a Hotsync that said it worked except for Contacts, everything is OK on the phone with regard to my data, and I can use all the PDA functions for as long as I want. But if I try to turn the phone on, it begins to search for the AT&T network, sounds the tone that ordinarily indicates that it's connected, and then shuts down.

Any help with this is much appreciated. This phone has been trouble-free for 3 years, never should have messed with the upgrade.

    Hi and welcome

Have you got a SD-card backup program in place ?
NVBackup is freeware and highly recommended.

Install and run so your data is safe.
Then hard reset your device, do NOT restore anything and see what happens.
If that makes the connection something went wrong during the upgrade.

holvoetn - OK, I did a backup with NVBackup and then a hard reset. The phone works again without my data. Did a restore from NVBackup & the phone craps out again. So I did another hard reset and did a Hotsync from Palm Desktop, syncing only my memos to the Treo. After soft reset, phone still works. I guess I will resume syncing my data one app at a time and see how that works out. Thanks again for your help.

holvoetn - Was able to restore all the data that I need using Hotsync and the phone is working fine, so thanks for the help. I guess the issue was probably to do with corrupted preferences.
