    I have both a 680 and a Lifedrive. I use the Lifedrive for the bulk of my stuff as wifi is no cost and I have a universal wireless keyboard so I like this with the big screen. I do like the Treo so that I can retrieve my E-mail when there is no wifi available. I take the Treo 680 with me when I go out and use the Lifedrive at home. I would not give up the Lifedrive for the Treo at this point but its possible I could get to like the Treo's all in one approach and just go with that totally. I do prefer the keyboard over graffiti. But I'm good at both. I keep both devices in perfect sync.

    Oh and I did have a TX but sold that unit as it was the easy one to sell between the Lifedrive and the TX. I had 3 offers on Craigslist in a matter of 30 minutes for my asking price and 2 offers trying to wittle me down. I went with the first offer. Another fellow had been trying to sell his Lifedrive for 2 weeks and had no takers so I decided to start with the TX. If I get to like the Treo and can live without my Lifedrive I'll then sell that. But I really like having the two for the things that I do. It works real well.

    So sorry to hear about the theft of your things from the rental car. That's really terrible and I hope you're recovering well.

    I haven't really looked into the 680 and since I'm happy with the TX, I doubt I"ll move to a Treo anytime soon. I do like looking at new technology, but can't afford to keep upgrading.

    From my p.o.v. it'd be a tough choice. I (sometimes) like the idea of merging phone and pda as well as having an upgrade to Blazer and better dbcache. I watch a lot of video, but screen size isn't critical. I thought I'd use Docs2Go more with the larger screen, but that hasn't happened. Not having WiFi would be a drawback. I use it a lot around the house since my PC is in the cold basement. If there were an affordable dataplan, I might be tempted.

    Good luck!

    After much deliberation, I have decided to switch from a TX to the 680. As much as I like my TX I found that I wasn't utilizing its full capabilities simply due to not wanting to carry around my mobile and the TX all the time. I found that I only use my TX when at the office or on the road. So I decided to go for the all-in-one device. I still plan to keep my TX as a video player, GPS device when out of town and for taking notes at meetings. But from day-to-day PDA and phone use I hope the Treo will do the trick. I will be picking one up after work today.

    Good luck Vil. I've heard this one packs a smaller than usual battery to allow for the new slimmer form factor. You might want to pick an extra battery up, or at least make sure you have enough chargers, car, home, office, etc. to keep it up and running. Make sure you let us know how the switch goes.
    I, for one, welcome our feline overlords.

    This is a major reason to switch.

    Thanks a lot! They arrested the two guys, but it seems that they will have to let them go because the witness failed to ID them in a line up. They were wearing ski masks.

    Could someone dumb down the DBcache thing for me? The way I see it, well, actually, I'm not sure how I see it.....

    Thanks for all the info everyone. After reading everything, I think that I'm leaning towards a 680. This weekend I'm going to go to a Cungular store and give the keypad a try. Also, I'm going to make a list of my main uses of the TX and see if they can be covered on the 680. I do have a few more questions;

    1. I believe that I read somewhere that you can, but I can't seem to find it, can you stream internet radio? I'm a big listener of www.liveatc.net.

    2. I read in a review somewhere that the keypad is slow to respond. For instance you type "THE" and then look at the screen and see a T, and theeeen a H, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand thhhhhheeeen a E, is that true?

    T-mobile related, I might start a new thread for these;

    I've gotten conflicting answers for the quote of a data plan, is the $30/month unlimited GPRS/EDGE all I need, or do I need the BB $50/month plan?

    How can I tell if I have a 32K sim card? I heard that if you have a "64K 3G" sim card, it won't work with a 680.

    Vil- Do you want to start a new thread like rOks? If I switch to a 680, I'll add to it regularly.......

    Yes you can but pay attention to your data charges unless you have an unlimited dataplan

    Nope, not seeing that. To me it is pretty responsive.
