Unable to Delete File
New forum member here. Have owned Palm IIc, Palm IV, M505, and now have Treo 650. I am vary familiar with the Palm OS and I have a file that I can not delete. It is a pdb file that I was testing for a friend who works on the railroad. Anytime an attempt to open the file is made it does a soft reset of the Treo. I have tried deleting it using the delete menu of the Palm OS and using Filepoint Pro. I get the same error message both times - Unable To Delete File then the name of the file. I don't want to do a hard reset although at this time it looks like my only option. Any suggestions??
In Texas.

Hello Willis_45, Welcome to BrightHand

You first need to do a WARM reset (hold page up, push reset, release page up).
This bypasses OS initialisation routines incl. locking certain files.
Then you can use whatever utility you use to delete stuff.
After that SOFT reset again to restore the OS operations.
An alternative method is to set the Recycle bit in the attributes of the file (I use FileZ for that) and soft reset (this removes the file as well).Digital since 1980, handheld since 2001

Thanks for the welcome and reply. Tried the soft reset and it still will not delete. I guess I'll try the utility you mentioned.

I am sorry I was not clear. I did the first soft reset as you specified, tried the delete was unsuccessful, retried the warm reset again, same results.
So I went and found the FileZ program, went in and did get it deleted. The only attribute it had checked was Read Only and OK New Install. I unchecked both and used the FileZ delete and
"Thank God and Greyhound it's Gone!"FileZ
I really appreciate the help! I am sure there will be some more q's I'll have. Good day to all and thanks for the fast help and the welcome.
