Here is the link for the reset I mentioned requiring 2 people.
http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/W...l2001,case=obj(887)#zeroout
This is called a Zero reset - you can click the link on the page or scroll about halfway down. The Treo 650 instructions are in part two of the Zero reset method (after the Tungsten T5).

I figure if this didn't work I really do have a hardware issue. It just burns me up to have to shell out more $$$.

looping
I have the same issue but it continually tries to hot sync. I've done the 4 resets, soft, warm, hard and zero out. The warm reset breaks the loop but then the phone won't turn on. A soft reset then causes the hot sync loop again.
What should I do next besides driving my car over the phone.?

What exactly do you have on your SD card?
What folders, what .prc files if any?
Or, is it blank?Cingular Treo 650 Unlocked, SW 1.17-CNG, FW 1.51

This is Kevin from Palm. There's a chance it's due to a conflict between the different ways you can add an application to the device. The Palm Knowledge Library article "HotSync loops continuously after an application has been added via QuickInstall, AddIt or other methods" might provide some leads.
Sincerely

More HotSync Looping
I bought my Treo (Cingular) on eBay on December and updated it's firmware to version 1.17.
It worked OK until last month.
Now it tries to HotSync all the time. Doesn't matter if you are listening to MP3 or talkin on the phone, it takes control of the system. After some tries it locks the keyboard and all the side buttons. To turn it on again it's necessary to remove/insert the SD card or take the battery away.
I've called Palm support in my country (Brasil) and they could not help me at all. They just asked me to hard reset it twice and informed that they had no specialist on Treo 650 to check it.
I tried all resets, except the Zero one (it seemed too extreme because of the 10 min. silent wait) .
I read the issue about HotSync and Quick install but it was useless.
Does anybody knows if it is a Hardware problem or just a Software problem?
Some people say they had the same issue because one key was stuck but I don't think it's the case. Anyway, this weekend I'm planning to disassemble it.
I'm thinking about trying to update the firmware again to version 1.17 to see if something changes. Just a question, I'm using my GSM phone on Brasil with another carrier than Cingular. Can I use the updater for unlocked GSM?
Anyway, does anyone have any idea? A friend told me to turn it on 110V to see if the shock releases the Treo from the evil HotSync curse.... Who knows.....
In the mean time, if someone asks me about Palm, I'll not recomend because I'm affraid I'll have to trash the 400 bucks I've spent on this piece of s.........................tuff.
