    Default QWERTZ to QWERTY layout?!

    Hi all,

I've recently bought a Treo 500v on eBay... Despite what was shown on the box, it has a QWERTZ keyboard (Y and Z are swapped). Although it's not a huge disaster, I'd really like it to use the US keyboard layout. I've tried changing all kinds of values in the registry, but somehow they keep getting changed back. Anyone have a clue how I can pull this off?
Besides this minor drawback, I love this phone!

Change the registry values again, close that app after you're sure it saved, wait a little bit, then soft reset it. This helped me get the values to stick when I app unlocked my 8125.

    Hoi Holvoetn,

Looking to change it to AZERTY?
There's a few places where the codepage is mentioned, but the only place where it's not correct, which keeps changing back, also after trying several times with saving and exiting correctly, is:

    HKLM/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/KEYBD/HardwareLayout with the value 1031.

Possibly, that's not even the place I have to change it, but in all other places, I have. Those would be:

    HKCU/keyboard layout/Preload and
    HKCU/keyboard layout/Preload/1

Who both are set to e0010409

Does anyone understand why my Treo isn't saving the registry changes? Am I trying to tell it to be something it's not? (hardwarewise) Would anyone have a suggestion how to change the keyboard layout? Thanks!

It should work. Maybe you have to app unlock it before it will allow you to change the registry.

    Instructions for app unlocking.

Then try doing it again. Look around all the parts of the registry to make sure you're not missing any keys. Good luck.

How am I supposed to app unlock it if it doesn't save registry entries?
I tried regardless, and although it didn't change the fact that the value cannot be changed, it did show that it actually DOES save changes! Apparently that value is not the one I should be looking at... I'll try some more and let you guys know if I run into a solution. Thanks for helping up til now!
