    Hi all

I am selling my 5450 on ebay at the minute, I have performed a factory reset but the unit is still storing my fingerprint data.

Any ideas how to erase it ?

turn off passwords/fingerprint from the Passwords screen in the Personal Settings page.

Turning off the password/fingerprint won't remove
the fingerprint file. Your print is saved in the FileStore
and you will need to delete the fingerprint file in the
filestore to ensure its completely gone.

Swipe your fingerprint incorrectly 10 times (wrong finger, too fast, whatever, so long as it doesn't recognize your finger).

The iPaq will ask iy you would like to hardreset. Choose yes, then perform a manual hardreset. This will clear the fingerprint and all security data.

If the hardreset isn't performed correctly, and it ends up being a softreset (sometimes it takes a few tries to get a 54xx to hardreset), you'll have to swipe the wrong finger another 10 times and try again.

you can also change your password to PIN, change OPTIONS on the bottom to 3 (the minimum) and reset.

Get the PIN wrong 3 times and it will also ask you to hard reset.

The relevant files are bioswipe.dat in the Windows folder, and bioswipe.cpl in the File Store. It looks like every time you go through the password routine, it copies bioswipe.dat to the File Store and renames it.

Probably the absolutely best way to do this would be to just update to the newest rom again, that way you could guarantee a "like new" iPaq on ebay, because it clears absolutely everything including filestore from the machine.
