Raised feeding/watering bowls are helpful for droopy draggy doggy ears, the kind of bowls that sit on a raised metal stand and make dining more comfortable for older big doggies like Doberman, Labrador, Rottweiler. (Family members have several elderly big dogs and bending down to eat from a bowl at floor level causes pups some physical distress.)

I guess it shows that I haven't had a puppy in decades. I never thought about a raised bowl. I was thinking I could tie the dog's ears above its head with lace or something like that, then fill the water bowl. But since it didn't seem to mind getting wet ears I didn't do it.

Lots of droopy draggy eared doggies have sweet dispositions and don't mind inconveniences very much. They also don't mind sharing the drippy mess onto the nearest human. :vbeek: I was friendly with a sweet Cocker Spaniel when I was a kid. Bassett Hounds are also very tolerant, in my experiences.

Full disclosure, when I could choose my own pets, they were always kitties. :vbtongue:

Now for the grand-dogs. To the left is Shadow. We had him for 4 years while our son and daughter-in-law were in college. He joined them full time up in WA in June 2019. To the right is Gus (named after the character on Psyche). He is actually a brother of our golden, Chester, from the 3rd litter. Chester was from the first. They are about 1.5 years apart. Gus is about 9 months and Shadow is 5 years old.[IMG]

I think I posted this one before somewhere else, but it is my favorite pic of Chester - with the morning sun hitting him on a walk...[IMG]

Our daughter has a lab - Rocky (named after the Rocky movies. Her other dog is Adrian, Rocky's wife, and their youngest son is named after my father, Emory, but his middle name is Creed. She wants to get a female lab and breed Rocky with "Bell"). Chester and Rocky love getting in the pool together.
