I got the projector over the weekend on the website, thought it was such a good deal that I assumed it was some kind of error and I wouldn't really get it, but I did, it wasn't even advertised at the time, someone just noticed it on slickdeals that if you added the projector and another mod, the projector became free. I suspect they're clearing stock, either for another version or perhaps it hasn't sold well and they're done stocking it.

Anyway, the projector is backordered on the site, so I would be wary of ordering it there (lest they cancel the projector you want but send you the over-priced style mod you don't), but some users reported the deal is live in verizon stores, so for a $40 tumi style mod (or any other mod), you can get a free originally $300 projector. Worth a stop if you ask me. Make the cashier go all the way to the checkout page, the discount won't show till the end of the process.

This is still being offered on Verizon Wireless's website, although now the projector is backordered until Jan. I went as far as throwing a $40 shell and the projector into the cart and, sure enough, the projector shows as $0. I offered to order it for Mrs. Hook to watch DroidTV, but she declined because she actually likes watching on the small screen (the older, low-quality video shows look better).

If I had a compatible phone, I'd order it.

 

I've been wanting to do this since I was a kid and read the strip for the first time, and this is pretty much all I have in mind for the moment for my moto projector. Arguably, even $40 was too much for this use, but I just couldn't resist.

In any case, Garfield doesn't get enough credit for being a futurist.

 

A couple of years ago, someone gave my son a pair of prism glasses for Christmas. My daughter eventually took them, and every now and then I'll find her in bed using them to read. If she had a TV in her room, she'd use them for that, similar idea to Garfield's solution.
