I recorded a speech on my 256mb lexar card and tried to hotsync back to computer so I could hear it louder and it did not show up on my palm desktop voice memo. But when I recorded without card it did so, how do I get to listen to it from card onto my computer's palm desktop? Thanks in advance for answering! :)

Download a tool like SyncWizard or CardExport and play it directly off the card like it was in a card reader. :)

...Or you could just buy a <$20 card reader, and use your card for other things as well.

You just have to navigate to the "Audio" directory.

I wish Palm gave you the option to sync your WAV audio files on the card to the desktop. It does't make much sense to record to the tiny 14 MB on your handheld (WAVs are so big).

Or you could just open the memo and change the category to something other than your card - that'll move to RAM. After HotSync, you can re-categorize it.

Is there any particular card reader that I should avoid? w/windows 98 or does that matter?

I have a Lexar USB card reader bought from your friendlly local Wal-Mart for under $20. It reads both mmc and sd. And I run Win98 with it and so far *knock wood* works great. The only problem I have with it is, because I am on a network and run an external cd burner, my machine runs out of assignments for drives so when I use the card reader, I cant get on the network. Not a big deal as I dont use it all the time...

I'm sure I could tweak Win98 to get around the problem but I just connect/disconnect the USB card reader as I need it..

    Hope this helps you.

    Hi,

I am just thinking of buying a 128 Mb mmc card for documents to go documents.

Reading this thread is making me realise that I dont know if the files in the card are included in HotSync!

    Is it excluded?

    Thanks

With DocsToGo to install onto a card:

    1. Open DTG on the desktop
    2. Select document and Click "Details"
    3. On the "Catagory" pull down menu select "Card"
    4. Then Hotsync and files will be installed onto the card (make sure the card you want the docs to be installed to is inserted on the handheld.

If you already have to documents on the handheld and wish to move them to a card:

    1. Tap "Documents" to open the Documents ToGo on the handheld.
    2. Tap "i" to the right of the document in the list view
    3. On the "Catagory" pull down the card should be at the bottom select "Card" (or whatever name you have given the mmc card)
    4. Tap "OK"

    Hi,

    Thanks for that. Very helpful.

In general, do you need to make special provisions for other types of sunc too?

If I have 500 docs on the card they will all be in the same category, won't they?

In general, if you want some application installed to the card you can do so by using the Install Tool, then click "Change Destination" Select the application from the left side of the screen marked "Handheld" and click the Arrow button to transfer it to the "card" side. Then hotsync. Applications will be installed direct to card.

You are correct, in DTG, all of your docs will be on the same "card" catagory.

    HTH,

It doesn't become active until you've loaded something into the file list window.

Best guess is that you have to select (click on) the application or file before clicking "Change Destination" otherwise, the button will be grayed out.

You must install Palm Desktop from the Tungsten T CD in order to have the Voice Memo conduit and desktop application.
