    hello,
anyone had any experience with one of these?

how do they compare to say the mobilepro 900C?

would it be a good machine for browsing the web, checking email, chatting and light office work?

    thanks for your input..

I owned a C1050 a couple of years ago. I'd strongly suggest not getting it unless it's very cheap -- Vadem went out of business back in 2004, and while the machine was picked up by Pinax group (http://www.pinaxgroup.com/products/clio_products_main.htm) it's pretty antiquated by modern standards; 32Mb of RAM (not expandable), modem, WiFi via a PCMCIA card if you can find a supported one (802.11b only, IIRC), and a not terribly clear DSTN VGA (640x480) screen. The promised successor (PocketPC 2005, SVGA, Wifi, sensible amounts of memory) hasn't emerged yet -- if it does, that's definitely the machine to go for.

That said, I picked one up from eBay for my daughter, and she loves it. Use the right vintage of software and hardware with it, and it is great. ;)

browsing the web: 900c lots better
checking emails: 900c slightly better with pop3/imap4 apps, with webmail lots better
chatting: depends what client you want
light office work: clio might be better (bigger screen). heavier: 900c (better version of textmaker)
