I performed the update yesterday while at work. It only took 10 minutes. I didn't have to worry about using some backup program. I just followed the instructions on the palm website. All my data was restored w/o hitch. The ONLY program I had to reinstall was for the palm WIFI card.
After the update I've noticed it's a little faster opening and closing programs. I'm just glad it's over. Cripes, reading all your negative crap made me paranoid for no reason.

a small issue which Im sure one of you bright peeps can answer - Ive just installed my update, without any problems, except :

When I run PalmOne File Transfer as stated, it says expand your internal drive on the left screen, and drag and drop its contents onto the righ hand side. Ic ant seem to pick anything up with a left or right click, to allow drag and drop. Any ideas wil lbe gratefully received.

It was only CRAP because you had no problems with the update. Lucky you.

That does not mean however that everyone else who has and still are reporting problems with the update are either wrong or paranoid.

By the way, we ARE talking about you ! ;-)

How do I get the Tungsten? T5 Update v1.1?

My "pen" and the palm have not got along for months. I am hoping this upgrade improves things but I cannot find it.

    Welcome ohagan4.

Go to the Support pages on Palm's web site and get it here. This is the European site but it shouldn't matter (assuming you're American).

The update doesn't appear on Chinese palmone pages. Is this update compatible with Chinese T5 ?(whether including Chinese words?)

Hello lvbbo, Welcome to BrightHand :D:D:D

I am not 100% certain but I assume this update was language independent.
    Could be mistaking though ...

I am sure others will chime in to correct me !

What you could also do is to mail Chinese Palm-suport (but be prepared to wait a looooooongg time ...)

The palm website explicitly states, "IMPORTANT: If you are using a Chinese language device, do NOT install this software. A Chinese language version of this update is not available at this time."

As you guys are making major upgrades to your T5 could you spare a little time to help me get my T3 running Bluetooth properly.
To do it I need some files from a T5

If anyone would be so kind, this is how to transfer them:

    <deleted by moderator>

I will then post them on the several discussion forums that have requested them

Please refrain from requesting and posting Palm copyrighted files on the Brighthand message boards.

    Thank you.

Apart from doing something which was obviously against board rules, why would you need T5 files to get BT working on your T3 ? It works without the T5 files as well ...

For your info, but I feel this posting is also against the rules.

    Hi
I updated my T5 software yesterday (after a lot of hair pulling).

I have been using the bluetooth connection from the T5 with my motorola v3 with no problem until the update but now they cannot see each other!

The T5 and the V3 will both connect with my laptop via bluetooth but not with each other.

I reinstalled the latest phone updates from the palm site but still no joy.

    Any ideas.

I've got a T5 (updated to 1.1) with a Motorola V3 (which needed the separate Palm update to get it working properly for browsing, email and SMS.

After a hard reset and reinstall I had to rerun the Prefs for Bluetooth to get the full phone facilities working again. Some Bluetooth settings had been restored OK but not all - including the phone.

It's probably worth rerunning the Bluetooth Prefs config - the phone test should report connection to a V3 if everything is then in order.

Hello MSteveB, Welcome to BrightHand :D:D:D

(and stevec as well if nobody told you before around here :D )

I think as well you need to 'pair' your T3 again with your BT phone.
After each hard reset (always self inflicted  ) I also need to do this (towards my PC which has a BT dongle).

    Thanks for the replies

I have eventually got my T5 to connect to my motorola V3.

When I was setting the bluetooth devices I had to tell the palm that I was using a motorola V500 then everything was ok!! If I set it for a V3 then it couldn't see it?

As my old dad used to say... If it aint broke don't try to fix it!!

Haven't seen any advantages in the 1.1 update yet

I never saw the original post that wasn't editted, so I'm not sure what that 'questionnable material' was, but isn't this a bit hpyocritical? I got nothing against the following the board's rules, but G1 for the most part is meant only for devices that came with G1 natively. By allowing those posts, it seems you may be letting users circumvent certain copywrite issues.
