I imagine that the moderators (or even any of us) cannot - and should not - limit theoretical discussion up to a certain point. Allowing links to remain, in order that theory can become practice, is another matter. :)

I just went through trying to update my T5 with the 1.1 as discussed and now my whole unit is screwy. It won't HotSync anymore saying it is unable to initiate HotSync operation because the port is in use by another application. It seems to still have my documents in the memory but seems to have removed my Documents To Go. The Documents and Versamail don't show up on either home page anymore.

WHAT THE HE** IS GOING ON??? HELP!!!

Hello rfmgil, Welcome to BrightHand :D:D:D

Unfortunately I do not have a T5 myself, but maybe some thoughts:

Are you sure the upgrade itself completed successfully ? It is highly unlikely that after the upgrade you still have old information in the devices memory since it performs a hard reset.
Maybe you can try to do the upgrade again ?

Did you already try a soft reset ? Hard reset ?

Strangely enough, I think I got it working. There might have been a problem in the hard reset. I performed another hard reset and now it seems to be working.

Now if I can just get my wireless hotsync working with my notebook I'm in business :p

Gee, well, I've had the worst experience of the lot it seems.

Finally had some time to upgrade, so I did. I'm on the G5, on OS X, I synch my T5 via Bluetooth. Never had a problem.

Did what needed to be done, followed to the letter, and on the required last reboot (hard), the screen gets to Palm Powered splash screenand then freezes. Never had a freeze before.

After another hard reboot, same again. It doesn't freeze at the same place though. Sometimes, it stops early in the 'intro film' but other times it gets to the two horizontal lines doing their darting dance, and freezes, with a worrying sound like a skipping CD. I understand what the sound is, but it doesnt make it any better.

Please somebody help me with this. I 'never leave home without it' either.

    This may help....

I had a problem where my MP3 player would not work, in fact the Palm device did not even recognize the memory card. I am not sure what program I added or anything that happened that caused this.

What I did was to perform a complete delete of all the programs (check the Palm website for this procedure). After doing this, I moved all of the data and programs to a safe folder on my computer. Then re-installed the software and the OS update. Then one by one I added the programs I used, and left off some programs I did not use.

This fully restored the system to the upgrade and resolved my problems.

    <Welcome to Brighthand, Kenbard >

Thank you for the welcome nine and akmondual.....

I have been a browser in Brighthand for quite a while, and have learned a lot from the posts here. Better than the Palm knowledge base.

I thought I would give back 2 cents worth...

    Cheers mate. :)

7 months as a sticky should have been ample time for users to see if they require the update or not. New T5's should have the update installed already.
