Um... talk about hitting the jackpot...

Tonight (7/27) NBC Nightly News did a prime-time segment about this ad.

    Well, they said the obvious.

Highly paid, highly educated news-persons and advertising experts said that the ad was grating, annoying, and simplistic. And that it succeeded because it was grating, annoying and simplistic. The message it delivered was retained by everybody who saw it. It even succeeded because (imagine this!) it fostered discussions.

    Mmm. Like this one. ;)

<Nine has tried to keep pretty much out of this discussion, as he isn't really an expert when it comes to 'on'>

<PDA Bach wonders if Nine will pay him a stipend for helping with a joke construction. He decides not to ask because Nine would probably pay in Pounds and PDA Bach would not like to weigh any more than he already does.>

They also said focus groups told them to keep the message short, simple, and repetitive.
I'd like to wallop those focus groups in their collective melon. Melons. Whatever. "Apply THIS directly to the forehead!"

<PDA Bach hands Tom LaPrise a cup of hot chocolate.>

There, there, violence only solves some of the problems. :)

    How many pennies, Nine?
<PDA Bach is not only easy, but cheap.>

Well, if you're that desperate... <Nine can think of one or two messy little jobs that might need doing> ;)

<PDA Bach points out that he expects room and board while he is working. He suspects that Nine has no idea how long he takes to do "messy little jobs.">
