Although, traditionally, when transitioning to a new version of Android OS the DU team has stopped work on and updates to the older OS versions, they are doing things a little differently this time.

Driven, in part, by the Bluebourne vulnerability popping up, while working on getting the first Oreo release ready, the DU team is releasing Google security patch only updates to DU Nougat. So now I have the September security patch and no more Bluebourne vulnerability.

This is why I'm staying with DU Nougat rather than returning to stock to take Google's OTA. I also appreciate that they don't rush the new version. Thanks folks.

Given how closely the teams work, I would expect Pure Nexus to do the same, but haven't seen it yet.

Less bloat, more filling. Alternate ROMs for the win! :D

Didn't see this until now, but agree completely. The DU team is keeping the Nexus 6 version of DU Nougat updated with the latest security patches even though the Nexus 6 is no longer supported by Google and the DU team shut down Nougat development several months ago to focus on the Oreo release. They're a great group and their ROM has an incredible feature set.
