    In the AkrutoSync case, I *think* it can go through the cloud if you set it up that way, but it particularly targets the segment of the market who mostly don't want that. The Android device is assumed to be able to connect over your home wireless LAN to your laptop/computer, where AkrutoSync presents (I assume) an Exchange Server interface. So your PST file is made to look like an Exchange Server as far as the handheld is concerned.

    I think you might even be able to connect to AkrutoSync on your computer by connecting via the internet (encrypted), but it's not something I'm interested in, so I didn't look into it.
