I haven't had a problem with hotsync for a long long time but tonight it did a soft reset after hotsync. I tried it several times and it made no difference. I checked the backup setting and it was correct with handheld overwrites desktop. I ran DBcleaner and it could not find a problem.

I don't do a hotsync everyday and so cannot think of what I have done that might have cause it to have a problem. One change I did make was that we have changed ISP and so I needed to change the WEP settings and SSID setting.

I set calendar to do nothing and redid the hotsync and it still reset. Next I tried setting contacts to do nothing and it didn't reset. So how do I find out what is wrong in contacts that is causing the reset?

    Thanks

Do you have any third-party applications that have their own sync conduit AND connect to the internet?

Is there any error message in your Hotsync Log?

Sounds as if the Contacts database is corrupted. Try checking with DbFixIt.

You can also try the trial version of tealscan. I think this is an excellent tool that noone should be without.

No DT, no other syncing app with or without internet.

I will try the other two suggested "cleaning" apps - many thanks

Agreed. And unlike DBFixit, it allows you to correct problems without having to buy it until the trial is over. (DBFixit only allows detection of problems, not correction, in trial mode)

I would not be without it personally.

Good luck solving the reset thingie LizG.
