<p>Sling Media has confirmed earlier reports that an iPhone&nbsp;version of its SlingPlayer Mobile software is in development. This will give Slingbox owners the ability to watch and control their home TV from Apple's smartphone or handheld.</p><table border="0" cellpadding="5" align="left"><tbody><tr><td align="center"><span onclick="displayWindow('http://www.brighthand.com/picture.asp?f=7764','Picture',770,587,'');">[IMG]</span></td></tr><tr><td align="center"><p>(<span style="cursor: pointer; color: green; text-decoration: underline" onclick="displayWindow('http://www.brighthand.com/picture.asp?f=7764','Picture',770,587,'');">view large image</span>)</p></td></tr></tbody></table>The company currently has an alpha version that runs on &quot;jailbroken&quot; devices, but this is for demonstration purposes only.&nbsp;Sling Media intends to offer through the iTunes Store a&nbsp;version that runs on non-jailbroken iPhones. Exactly when this will happen is not yet known, though. <p>A spokesperson said, &quot; We are looking forward to the iPhone SDK becoming publicly available&nbsp;this week and fully intend to develop&nbsp;SlingPlayer Mobile&nbsp;using the SDK and are looking forward to selling it through the iTunes store.&nbsp; We started the development process before the SDK was available to characterize the performance of the platform and ensure that we could deliver a high quality customer experience on the iPhone &amp; iPod Touch platforms. The results have been&nbsp;very promising and we are eagerly awaiting the SDK's release so we can hopefully leverage what we have done already to deliver SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone.&quot;</p><p>The iPhone version will join the versions of this software for BlackBerry, Palm OS, Symbian S60, and Windows Mobile,&nbsp;which are either already available or in development.</p><p><strong>Related Articles:</strong></p><ul>
