Not exactly pet names, but Canadian's sometimes call their $1 coins "Loonies" after the loon that appears on it. A loonie is also slang for lunatic or crazy person (one who howls at the moon or "luna"). The $2 coin is called a "toonie." I suppose when you combine them, you end up with --
On a slightly more serious note, if you're working with Canadians you might want to know that their "pet" name for electricity is "hydro" (as in hydro-electric). I wouldn't want you to get electrocuted because you thought someone was going to get you a glass of water.
