    Incidentally, a couple of weeks ago my son told me they were teaching him about haiku at school, and he had to write some for his homework. He said he couldn't understand how a poem could be so short yet meaningful. I told him he could think of a haiku as a snapshot, like seeing people through the window of a speeding car... a short, concise description of a single aspect of said image, carrying with it the emotion felt in the moment. He managed a few haiku of his favorite stuff: Lego blocks, Minecraft, and spaghetti :) I remembered this thread, but my son's class is in Spanish, he's still not fluent in English, and I found it all but impossible to translate preserving the haiku structure.

    Fleeting images
    when brought from another tongue
    lost in translation
