I had no problem with cilantro until around 2009, when my neighborhood began to see these loathsome insects and they began finding their way indoors. Local pest control companies took a couple of years to develop a sufficient formula for eliminating them. The point of the story is that this particular non-native species of stink bug emits a distinctive disgusting odor when they perceive a threat (it is their only defense) and the odor smells exactly like the aroma of freshly chopped cilantro. Cilantro in any form has nauseated me ever since. (Photo from March 2011; now they have been found in all 48 contiguous states.)

... does the 30 second rule still count of all your chips land on the grass?

IMHO, maybe…if the recent history of that patch of grass is known to the chip•dropper…no critter doo•doos or pee•pees? not recently hit with weed killer or fertilizer? no petroleum spills if the grass has been recently mowed?
That hits the high points…hope the fireworks show was good!

    EDIT: btw, hereabouts, it's a 10-second rule…

Sheesh. We've always had the 5 Second Rule, and that still makes me want to gag. :vbeek:

I think I'd rather have the dog poo, LOL.

Fireworks show was good, there were enough chips left in the carrying bag for the grandkids to eat their fill. Of course, they opted for candy to make up for the slight loss of chips...
