Jimmy Kimmel hams it up with Minnesotan who got her head stuck in tailpipe
By Tom Horgen, www.startribune.com
June 22nd, 2018
The hits keep on coming for the Minnesotan who went viral after getting her head stuck in a giant tailpipe.
Kaitlyn Strom was outside the Winstock Country Music Festival last month when she became enamoured with a truck’s over-sized exhaust pipe and poked her head inside it. The local fire department freed her with a chainsaw. She was reportedly cited for minor consumption. A six-second video of the incident has been viewed millions of times.
On Thursday night, Jimmy Kimmel extended her 15 minutes of fame by featuring her and the truck’s owner, Tom Wold, on his late-night show.
The interview is, by all accounts, incredible. For starters, Strom and Wold speak with Kimmel from the small-town bar where the tailpipe is now displayed.
Throughout the interview, Kimmel gets his usual (and much deserved) digs in.
At one point he says “Look out Florida, Minnesota is giving you a run for your money.”
Hard Rock casino's 30-foot guitar sign includes giant typo
cbsnews.com | June 21, 2018
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City doesn't have rhythm -- it's got "rhythem."
The soon-to-open casino, which spent $500 million to renovate the facility, installed a 30-foot sign shaped like a Gibson Les Paul guitar on Thursday morning without noticing the word "rhythm" was misspelled. The word on the guitar's rhythm and treble switch included the letter "E."
The guitar is one of two expected to go up at the new resort, with the second slated for installation Saturday at the resort's entrance.
Hard Rock officials say the typo was corrected Thursday afternoon by removing the extra vinyl letter.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will open at noon on June 28 the same day as the new Ocean Resort Casino.

Congratulations? Zsa Zsa, an English Bulldog, Wins the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest
By Sarah Mervosh, www.nytimes.com
June 24th, 2018
Zsa Zsa, a 9-year-old English bulldog, was named the 2018 World’s Ugliest Dog on Saturday in Petaluma, Calif.
Her tongue hangs loose from her mouth, flopping so low it threatens to touch the ground.
Her face is wrinkled and her teeth protrude in an underbite.
Stout and barrel-chested, she has a figure that few would call girlish.
In other words, Zsa Zsa, a 9-year-old English bulldog, had just what it took to impress the judges on Saturday night at the World’s Ugliest Dog contest in Petaluma, Calif., where she bested 13 other dogs to seize the title.

The event, like its unsightly contestants, might be misunderstood at first glance. The World’s Ugliest Dog contest is actually a celebration of the dogs, many of which were rescued from shelters or puppy mills, and is intended to promote pet adoption.
a formerly obese dog with sagging skin; a dog with a crooked face and different colored eyes that had already won six other ugly dog contests; and a hairless, blind creature who seemed to wonder why it had been entered in the contest in the first place. “I know I’m too pretty to win,” a biography for the dog read.
One by one, the contestants came onstage Saturday night, with their mangled hair and missing teeth.
But who was the ugliest of them all?
spending five years in a puppy mill in Missouri, she was put up for auction and bought by a rescue group. She was then adopted by Megan Brainard of Anoka, Minn.
Zsa Zsa Gabor, opting for a glamorous name after all the dog had been through. “She is just so ugly, she’s beautiful,” Ms. Brainard said.
Ms. Brainard and her family drove 30 hours from Minnesota to California to enter Zsa Zsa in the competition, she said.
Despite the contest’s name, Zsa Zsa tried to look presentable for the occasion: She got a pink manicure and wore a sparkly pink collar. Still, she could not hide her droopy jowls and crooked teeth from the judges.
But Ms. Brainard said she believed it was also Zsa Zsa’s personality that won over the judges. “She was eating part of a Slim Jim on the table and just sneezed all over them and was drooling on them,” she said.
Last year, a 125-pound Neapolitan mastiff with red eyes, uncontrollable drool and baggy skin took the title. The year before that, first place went to a blind, 17-year-old Chinese crested Chihuahua.
Zsa Zsa’s victory comes with a $1,500 prize and a hot pink trophy that is several times her height.

Helga would "like" Jig's post about Zsa Zsa, but she hasn't figured out how to make a BH account.

Harrowing parasailing accident leaves woman drifting in the wind for 45 minutes
To celebrate her 29th birthday, Katie Malone strapped into a parasail in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on June 9 and braced herself for an adventure high above the water.
The first few minutes went fine. But at some point in the ride, Malone saw that the boat supposedly pulling her along was going one way and she was flying in the other direction, approaching land. The line connecting them had snapped, she realized.
Her terrifying flight ended when Malone crash-landed about 45 minutes later at an airport nearly 2 miles away, her brother Brendan Malone told CNN on Thursday.
'She's very lucky to be alive'
Despite the injuries, the crash could have been worse for Malone. At one point, she came close to hitting one of the balconies at the resort -- so close that she could hear the people screaming.
After the line connecting her to the boat broke, she started traveling down the coast line. From previous skydiving experiences, she knew to use her feet as an anchor, so she grabbed the rope with her feet, put her hands in the air and steered the parasail as best she could with her feet, her brother said.
"She was praying the whole time for her safety. She was mostly concerned about breaking her arms and legs," Brendan Malone said.
She passed out about 20 minutes in.
Even after Malone crash-landed, there were more issues. Her brother said an alligator was by the fence near where she landed, and rescue workers had to scare the beast away to reach her. When family told her about the alligator, Malone says she "laughed and thought it was hilarious," Brendan Malone said.
Her family later watched video of the terrifying flight that was filmed by one of her friends.
"I just fell down watching it," Malone's mother, Sidona, told CNN sister network HLN. "It was great to see her though. She's very lucky to be alive and we're really thankful for that."
US Rep. Duncan D. Hunter and his father, former US Rep. Duncan L. Hunter, helped facilitate Malone's return to the United States.
Brendan Malone said his sister was in "high spirits" during her time in the Mexican hospital.
"It was unbelievable. Throughout her stay, the doctors and nurses kept asking her what her pain level was -- and she would say 8-10," he said. "When she was ready to get in the ambulance (to start her journey back to the US), the doctors and nurses kept asking her about her pain level. She said she didn't feel any pain at all."
The family has received offers of help in terms of possible legal action against the parasailing company, according to Brendan Malone.
Sniped! my guess for its name was Kentsky
