    Edmund, there's also the point that when the original battery has to be replaced, if the device is designed to let you DIY, it should be a bit cheaper (than having to send it out for replacement).

    Good point, RA. The good news for Nexus 5 owners is that the battery shouldn't be too hard to replace. I've watched a few take apart videos that make it look reasonably easy for the DIYer. But a swappable battery would have been better.

    Good to know about the Nexus 5 usb abilities, I'm ok with no microSD slot as long as OTG is available.

    The Nexus 4 looks pretty easy to change batteries among other things as well, don't know if I would be keen to try it on the HTC One though
