My kids... well... if I had kids, would also have the day off. As it is, my kitty kids get to enjoy having mom and dad work from home on yet another snow day. :)

Enjoying a wicked thundersnow / thunder-freezing rain at the moment.

We had lots of strong wind through the night, which is continuing. The line of arborvitae along the side of the house and driveway are dramatically bent over from the heavy, wet snow and ice. I put the dog's booties on and took her out. She quickly did her business and turned around to go inside. I'm guessing we've gotten about 3 or 4 inches of snow depth so far, but it's holding a lot of moisture and will be very difficult to remove. I'm hoping my wife will work from home today so I can put off shoveling while I deal with nonsense at my own miserable job. Forecast calls for a few more inches of snow, then switches over to sleet and maybe rain tonight. It's expected to melt this weekend.

Then you're postponing shoveling forever? When does one finish dealing with nonsense at one's own miserable job? More accurately, when does nonsense and miserability at work stop harassing one? The next time will be my first ever :( :D

I appreciate your point. I didn't say I'd finish dealing with all the miserable nonsense, did I? And, not all the nonsense is miserable. Some of it is just annoying.

So, how'd you guys make out? <stupid husband is on his own>
One or more forecasts had some parts of MN getting up to two MORE feet of snow (~61 cm)…

We got about 8" of wet, heavy snow. High winds brought down a lot of small branches, too. It's a big mess, but I'm guessing I'll all melt by Sunday.

4" of heavy wet snow, made even heavier by torrential thunderstorms, and freezing rain. Surrounding communities are a disaster, and the county due west of us is in a state of emergency. Utility poles are snapped like toothpicks for untold miles in the rural countryside, with entire communities off the power grid to this very moment. Estimates of at least another 2 days before power restored. Rochester got a good knocking with this storm, and I lost a good size branch from my willow tree. I count myself lucky, but just 30 miles down the road, it's a far different picture.
