Without reading the story in the link, I think I am justified in saying it must be bad if Jig says "Yikes!!!"

We Minnesotans are a rather tough bunch - with the exception of hurricanes (thankful we don't have those here) so when something triggers a response like that... well... just sayin ;)

    Stay safe' friends!

Oofdah, that's a doozy of a storm. Be sure to wear your fur lined Nordic sweater and a good pair of Mukluks socks. A pair of Yaktraxs would be a good bet too.

Unless the dartboard is completely wrong*, my locale will get less than 3" of snow, but it'll still be too darn cold and windy.

*my pet theory is that weather forcasts rely heavily on where darts thrown by the talking heads land on the dartboard…if they did that, they'd probably be right more often. just sayin'

    Same here.

I can't remember the last winter that was this bad, at least this early on.

I wish we had something substantial. Wife wants to get out and ski, and wants me to go snowshoeing. Not enough out there, and just too dang cold. Sympathies to the east coast. Could ya ship some of it back to MN where it belongs....

You're referring to Nordic skiing, right? My daughter is on the school Alpine ski team, but hasn't been able to get out because the school district prohibits outdoor athletics when the temps are below zero. The cold has allowed ski resorts to make a ton of snow, but it has also made it harder to get out.

I've never snowshoed, but think about it every fall when I see them on sale at Costco. :)

Yep, she does Nordic skiing. I gave it a go last year too. Not too bad. Last I gave it a go was back in Jr. High. It has been a while. ;)

Funny you should mention Costco. That is where I got my snowshoes. :D

<a barely -defrosted (from the walk in from parking) RA shakes his head and contemplates which natural disaster is preferrable for retirement, hurricanes or blizzards…then he remembers that retirement for him will take place when, like the parrot in the Monty Python sketch, he expires>

AZ isn't too bad - no hurricanes, floods (unless you live in a flood zone), tornados or earthquakes & nice winter weather.
