I keep it plugged in, because it works fine, and look at it nostalgically sometimes. I loved using it. It was the perfect size and was ahead of its time. I don't like my iTouch as much as the TX. Now I use mostly my Sony Experia Tablet Z, but am going to sign up for the 3G plan with the Moto X and think I am really going to like that.

Is there a Texting For Dummies thread here, because I have no clue. :)

Texting is pretty straight forward if you are not doing anything fancy. You just have never had a device that could do it as easily as a phone can. You type in a message and send it to someone's cell phone number. They send one back to your cellphone number. That's it. Google will try to get you t use Hangouts for this, but I use one of the much simpler (free) messaging apps available. One may even come with your phone.

Any modern phone in the US includes a texting app/function. beyond sending to phone numbers, you can send to email accounts; similarly, if you know the "secret code" (there was a thread for that) you can send a text from an email account to a phone. for Verizon, it's

123-456-7890@vtext.com, where the actual phone number & area code replace the 123-456-7890

similarly, to send a picture, for Verizon it would be:

    123-456-7890@vzwpix.com

Sounds like something I could do without my kids laughing at me. :)

Something that has not changed over the years. You say you are frugal, they say you are cheap. You say you are funny, they say you are weird. That's why I like dogs. :)

My wife got her Moto X a few days ago and likes it alot. She hasn't tried taking pictures with it yet. It has to take better pictures than an iTouch.

I had no problems w/ my DroidX w.r.t. pictures, although I think not everyone would agree. Hopefully the app & the hardware have gotten even better. Is this the new Moto X, or the original version?
    EDIT: looks like the original…

Original. I thought the newer isn't due out for a month or so.

I know this is comment is very belated, but I'd like to add that the big 4 cell service companies are not known for great customer service, either, which is too bad. I have heard great things about Ting's customer service, though.
