    Hi guys,

My mom wants a smartphone. I know we WILL have to say goodbye to our old plan. :(

We might choose either 10GB or 15GB plan.

But here is my question. Since me and my brother have unlocked smartphone devices (mine is international device and his is tmobile device), can we use our smartphones as "Basic Phone"? My sister and of course my mom will have to use as "Smartphone".

    Thanks all.

Good question NetB; as usual, the likely answer is, "it depends" <rolleyes>
I've read that if the device is no longer offered as one to buy from the provider (extreme example: a working 755p 3G smartphone, Sprint-branded) then your odds go way up; you might need to give up any data access (by having the provider set it that way).

I expect others who are more familiar w/ the ins-and-outs of AT&T's legalese can help clarify.
