Microsoft has released Voice Command 1.6, the latest version of its application that allows users to control their Windows Mobile devices with spoken commands.

This is a significant update, as it now, for the first time, supports WM Smartphones. Previously it ran only on Pocket PCs.

In addition, version 1.6 adds native support for Bluetooth headsets.

This application can also now speak the subject and sender of incoming email messages, and the content of SMS messages.

Voice Command 1.6 sells for $39.99. It can be ordered from Handango.

    More About Voice Command

This application allows users to control common functions of their handheld or smartphone, such as the Windows Media Player and the program launcher, with simple spoken commands.

Voice Command includes the ability to dial contacts by saying "Call Bob Smith" or request that a certain phone number be dialed. Voice Command uses phonetic speech recognition technology, which allows natural language to be used instead of requiring particular learned word sequences.

Nice! I checked the link at Handago, but they don't seem to offer a demo for this particular version, nor did the site on microsoft.com. I have a Moto Q and would like to try before I buy. Anyone know how to get a demo version of 1.6?

I downloaded the demo after clicking as suggested by Ed, but that's the 1.5 version. I gues we'll just have to wait until they update the links, eh?

I bugged my contact at Microsoft, and he bugged the people in charge of the web site. They told him, who told me, so I can tell you that the site will be updated "soon."

Hmm, still seems to be no link or way to download a trial version of 1.6. Can anyone point the way?

Doesn't look like Microsoft is offering a demo.
