    In need of desperate help!
My computer was running slow so I restarted it. Once it booted up again, I opened Palm Desktop to find NO DATA! Everythign had been deleted.
Anyone know why this coudl have happened?
And how can I prevent this from happening?
Lastly, where do I find backup files if they exist and how do I go about making sure they are alwyas updated?
    Would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Suzanne

It's possible it just lost track of the files. You can look in c:\Palm\<username> to see if your data is still there.

If not (and it would be very surprising if all these files were deleted - this would indicate a big problem on your PC), you still have your data on the Palm, right? So just click on the HotSync icon in the taskbar, choose "Custom," and change all the conduits to "Handheld overwrites desktop."

It is always a good idea to have a recent backup of your c:\Palm\<username> folder.

I was able to restore the data on my desktop by using my handheld and reverse hot-syncing.
But now just to be safe, how can I make a READABLE back up copy of all my data?
Possibly somthing I coudl store in word or excel?

You can export some things in .csv form; those files can be read in Excel. All of the .dat files can be read in Notepad, although it's hard to sort through the garbage to get to the data.

Why do you need a readable backup? You can always download Palm Desktop or HotSync the files to the Palm. The most important thing is to have a backup at all.
