Thanks, Rick! I was just reading on today's paper an article about the roaming fees in the EU... Hope this spreads to the rest of the world. In South America, roaming fees are ridiculously high... it's less expensive to call long distance using a simcard from a local carrier than to activate roaming on one's own number.

The Amazon gadget looks very nice. I've been thinking about upgrading my old WD TV Live, now I have another option to consider.

About time the USB wizards got their act together and made reversible cables! I guess the new design will include OTG cables as well.

more than welcome, Raspy; not sure how long this thread will stay open, it might not be to the liking of the powers that be (I'll stop there....)

EDIT: yes, it'd be great if the outrageous charges at least became reasonable...

The Verizon price cut is a sham. They claim to be matching prices with AT&T at $160 for 4 smartphone lines and 10 GB. But AT&T gives you that price permanently, and allows you to bring your own device, while Verizon requires you to be enrolled in Edge for all four lines and actively paying. So when they say $160, what they really mean is "$160 for access plus $20 per month for each phone." Which is basically exactly what they charged before for non-Edge lines. And the minute you're done paying for your phone, they hike your price again.

We are fortunate - where we live in the Phoenix area we have great T-Mobile coverage. I know that is not the case for every place - but if it is - T-Mobile's plan is still better than AT&T's For 4 phones at $160 you would have 12g of non-throttled 4g speed and then unlimited but at 2g speed.
