I have a Palm Zire 71 which is synched with my Palm desktop on Windows Vista. The PDA has stopped working and i would like to transfer the data (on a regular basis) from the windows computer to the Linux netbook.

Is this easy or even possible?

The Linux is the Fedora 7 version.

If it is possible, what do I need to download to my Linux?

I also have Outlook on my windows machine if that helps at all.

If possible, please provide me with step by step instructions as I am a Linux newbie.

    Many thanks.

So the Palm is dead, and you want to get the info from Palm Desktop into a format usable on Linux....my adventures in This Thread may be relevant to your situation....

    Welcome to BH, btw! :newpalm:

I use KPilot. Had no problems, just have to make sure the visor module gets loaded. It works even if you have the Gnome desktop, and I found it worked better than the Gnome pilot manager.

You can use kpilot, or jpilot, or export to .csv files and then import into Evolution. Kpilot is probably the easiest - just sync your Palm to that, and you data will go into Evolution, which is the Linux equivalent of Outlook.

I overlooked the fact that your Palm is dead. You'll have to export your data to whatever you can get. I don't remember the Windows Palm Desktop options, but .csv is the best if you can get it.
