Handbrake's video conversion app update was 13 years in the making

    Thanks 'Cronie. Sounds great. You'd be surprised how fast 5TB (or not, since you have 12TB). That also has to accommodate backups of my 1TB portable drive, my old 500GB laptop HD, my current (but already ailing) 1TB laptop and miscellaneous stuff. I'm a digital hoarder.

    I've done some comparisons and I can't for the life of me tell a good, compressed encode from the original Blu-ray, even on a large-screen plasma TV. I can't figure out what's on those 30GB+ movie files.

    Yeah, I wish I had 12TB. I only have a 2TB and a 1TB dedicated to media currently. A 512 for the OS and a 512 for a few virtual machines that I tinker with.

    I only have one 720p TV. A straight rip to mkv looks as good as a DVD on it. I do see a difference if I compress it using the older handbrake though. As I am not out of space yet, not much reason for me to compress yet. :)
