Updated: 2/10/2008 (removed JVM 5.7.2 in favor of JVM 5.7.1)

    Currently for Opera Mini 3.1

I thought It'd be easier on ManneS and Palm TX users if I patched this little problem. ;) Keep in mind if you're low on memory on your unit, especially in ram don't expect perfect results but I assure you this will offer the most stable results for the Palm TX, T5 & LifeDrive, this should not be used in full for Treo settings.

    Disclaimer:
If you need/like browsing desktop like sites on the go and WAP browsing is insufficient (Blazer) read on..
Not intended for Treo & T3 users.

1st You need a Java Midlet Manager:

*You'll need to install both J9JavaVMMidp20.prc and JavaVMCheck_enUS.prc" in order to get Java VM on your Palm.
Thanks to lelisa13p for this link (updated 10/11/2008 courtesy of jigwashere):
You can get the stabler 5.7.1 version from here, although it says shareware this should have the same free advantages similar to that above.

    SPECIAL NOTE:
*PM me if V-Tracker asks for money & I will repost a free alternative. I want this to be a cost-free experience!*

After that, type this in Blazer www.mini.opera.com
    (Follow the instructions)

Now after Opera Mini is on your Palm TX
Go to Preferences> Java VM (You should see it at the very bottom)

    For Opera Mini
    1. Check both:
    "Use double buffering"
    "Use high resolution coordinates"

    2. Set the "Memory maximum" to 4mb you'll set this to either 8MB or 32MB later.
    3. Set the Maximum Java Thread Stack size to 32KB.

Then exit and make sure Wi-Fi is on & connected. (Some devices may soft-reset themselves in not done before hand.)
    Open Opera Mini
*Follow the instructions and attempt to go to a site (any)
*After you accept the EULA agreement & see the site you just tried to open, exit Opera Mini.

    Return to
    Preferences>Java VM> select Opera Mini
Set the bar that says Memory Maximum 4MB, all the way up to 8MB or 32MB.

    Enjoy.

Also if you want full pages and better imaging, use these settings:

    Inside Opera Mini 3
    Go to Menu>Tools>Settings

    Uncheck: Content folding
Uncheck: Animations (there seems to be a conflict
with this when it comes to loading other images)

Any of the other settings should do you fine.

EDIT JAVA UPDATE 2/18/07 (Old for me lol :p)
Stop Opera Mini from asking for permission to connect:

Go here and download Link to the post with the prc. file

Note that as of 3.0 Opera Mini will sometimes reset if your Wi-Fi hasn't been activated beforehand.

And remember to clear your history ever so often to achieve maximum performance and fewer errors, especially with loading content.
Also do not delete Blazer in favor of OM3 because Opera Mini relies on Blazer for downloads.

Awesome! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us. :newpalm:

I don't surf the net on my TX as much as I use to when I first bought it but this is still very useful information. As my interest turns back to surfing I will definitely follow this guide. I am bookmarking this thread for that very reason. Thanks again! :)

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

This is fantastic. I downloaded and installed it on my Lifedrive with no problems at all. Opera Mini is amazing compared to Blazer. This is just what I wanted!
One note; when I was downloading Opera Mini it asked me to select "save" or "save and Open". I selected "save" and it failed. Twice. So I selected "save and open" and it worked just fine.

Thanks again for taking the time to write such clear and concise instructions.

Thats the safest for Treo users, TX, T5 & LD users can exceed that amount.
