Barring some sort of awesome-sauce Android device actually being released on Verizon (and the Bionic does not count, given the conclusion of every review is "Ok if you're desperate but don't bet the farm on it"), I will be all over an iPhone 5. My biggest issue is that I honestly don't trust most Android device makers to support an Android phone through 18-24 months. My OG Droid got dropped like a hot potato, and frankly has far too little internal memory for the ridiculous spacebombs Google has made omnipresent in the OS. (Twitter, Facebook, Google Goggles, Maps and GMail are the biggest space hogs on my phone, so my options are either uninistall updates or police the cache every few days. PAIN IN THE BUTT.) Yes, Android has matured immensely, but whose to say that the Bionic doesn't get dropped when something newer and shinier gets released? Or that Moto doesn't shove crud all over it as well? And yes, I can hack it or slice and dice the OS, but this is my only phone and it's simply unacceptable that I should be required to play happy hacker to have a stable phone. And that's my very long-winded explanation for why I will be first in line for an iPhone 5 if I can...I clearly need a break from Android, because my anger over how poorly the damn Droid has aged is spilling into Android in general for me. Which is too bad. And if I decide I hate the iPhone 5, well, at least it is likely to have excellent resale value.
