I've used this editor often, unfortunately it is currently having problems. If you are interested in custom mykbd layouts there are plenty of people who use it at 1src.com, including myself.

i am looking for a custom mykbd layout, yes .. but the one that i made for me. it's perfect for me now, except for it's little issues (the main one, possibly the only one, being that it won't slide & do capitals with the long slide on one letter anymore), thus why i want my own back. lol! :D

Don't you have a backup set on your card you can restore from? I always call my current keyboard setup, current.

i think i am actually talking about the .txt file, brent.

i've copied the active skin to the sd card & now have a copy of it on my computer, but it's a .prc file. just reloading it hasn't fixed the issues it's having. it still won't recognise any character input using the slide beyond 2 letters & it still won't allow me to do capital letters by doing a squiggle or a circle on the one letter.

i'm thinking that i need to start with the .txt file & recompile it, but how can i get that .txt file from the palm or from the .prc without having to start from scratch??

i've got it so perfect .. i don't want to have to start again. waaaaaah!!

Ok, I think I get it. You have a partially made Keyboard, and you accidentally deleted the TXT file on the computer? I hate to say it, but I think you are out of luck. Usually, with a regular Palm Resource file, you could decompile it to get what is called an "RCP" file, but unfortunately, you can't do that with myKbd skins. Unless you somehow recover that TXT file, I believe you will have to start from scratch.

not partially made, unfortunately. *completely* made. it's the one i've been using for ages now. i made quite a few edits to it over the space of a month or so until it was perfect.

i guess i'll try reinstalling mykbd as a whole & then the .prc & see if it fixes the problems.

    *sigh*

bugger. i've reinstalled it & it's still having the same issues.

i guess i really am going to have to start from scratch.

*another big sigh & a little cranky side lip raise thing with my mouth* grr.

This is what I would try before starting again and maybe you have already.

    myKbd>Menu>Options>Hex Keyboard options

    If
    'Stroking through multiple keys'
    'Slide in key capitalizes'
are Ticked then UnTick and Test in the Test area.
Exit myKbd and go to Memos and write something.
Exit Memos to launcher and Soft Reset.

    Launch myKbd and Tick
    'Stroking through multiple keys'
    'Slide in key capitalizes'
    Test in the Test area.
Exit myKbd then test in Memos.
If still no good try another Soft Reset and test.
    Just trying to kickstart it.

If it works then copy to card, copy to Desktop, zip, email to self and a friend and put in freeware section at 1src.com.
    That should cover it :D

    Good luck :)

All the best, woz of oz
