All the ones around me have gone up between 10 and 25 cents in the past two days. (Oh yes, I believe that this is because of the unrest in the Middle East. Of course it would affect the cost of what's in the tanks in the ground at the gas stations already.):mad:

The last I heard the credit card companies still prohibit charging extra for credit transactions. This doesn't stop the shopkeeper from offering a "discount for cash."

BTW, a reason I never use my debit card is because I have fewer protections if someone steals the number or the card. My credit card company might hold me responsible for $50. My checking account bank debit card could cost me the balance of my account plus overdraft fees. And though I might be able to get them to reverse this it seems like a lot more work and trouble.

I don't know about other Banks, but Bank of America is quite straight forward about this. They instantly refund the challenged amount and fees and issue you a new card. A simple phone call. (It happened to my son recently).

Sat. my usual gas station was $1.529, yesterday $1.589; I've seen (yesterday) $1.699, though, as well as $1.559. As PDA Bach said, of course the price of refined, delivered, in-the-ground gasoline is impacted by the latest Middle Eastern conflict

<Q-Eye backs quickly out of the thread, not wanting to be around when NetBrakr (literally!) fires up his plane loaded with gasoline instead of jet fuel. It would have been bad enough if he had just filled the tanks but the whole plane???. Oh well, just add that to the deficit.>
