All the ones around me have gone up between 10 and 25 cents in the past two days. (Oh yes, I believe that this is because of the unrest in the Middle East. Of course it would affect the cost of what's in the tanks in the ground at the gas stations already.) The last I heard the credit card companies still prohibit charging extra for credit transactions. This doesn't stop the shopkeeper from offering a "discount for cash." BTW, a reason I never use my debit card is because I have fewer protections if someone steals the number or the card. My credit card company might hold me responsible for $50. My checking account bank debit card could cost me the balance of my account plus overdraft fees. And though I might be able to get them to reverse this it seems like a lot more work and trouble.
