What general area are you in?

You can always, at a pinch, scan in a local map and use a picture viewer program.

you should be able to accomplish what you want using a customized MapQuest AvantGo channel. look for the "DOWNLOAD MAP TO PDA" link in the blue button bar just above the map graphic.

of course, you'll have to download and install AvantGo first.

... just had another thought. you could also use HandMap and MapIt. I think the AvantGo solution would probably be better, but I like to have options. :)

Mapquest has been having problems uploading maps in Avantgo for a while, so you may want to rethink that solution for the short term. You can download text, but no maps.

This is a problem Mapquest is aware of. It's been this way since mid May, so who knows when they'll fix it.

Goot point. I'd forgotten about that since I typically only use it for directions. You might consider creating a MapQuest map, saving it as a GIF of JPG and then using one of the Palm freeware image viewers to convert it to Palm format & view it on your PDA. FireViewer's especially good for that type of work, but it's not freeware.
