I know I've complained about this before and it's not a huge deal; but the 'Find Posts' menu with 'New Posts' and 'Today's Posts' is really pretty clunky.

Today, I signed in after about a week of not catching up on BH. There were 8 pages of 'new posts' and when I logged in, I selected the 'remember me' box. I got through about 5 pages of the threads when I had to go and do something else. I came back to it many hours later (I was still signed in and the tab had not been disturbed in any way). Still, I could not go to the next page. I kept getting 'no matches found' messages. I refreshed the page, and then 'new posts' gave me only 19 threads. So there seems to be no way for me to find recent posts by date, or in chronological order, etc. There ought to be a better way to do this. Something that actually distinguishes threads I've actually selected (I realize it can't tell if I actually read them) as opposed to making the distinction seemingly only based on when I 'signed in' or some amount of elapsed time while logged in.

    A work around :)

Copy the following and paste it into a NotePad and keep it handy.

    http://forum.brighthand.com/search.php?do=getdaily&days=2

That will be the same as Today's Posts but for 2 days.
Change the 2 to 3 or 7 or whatever.

Note: After the search the address bar will show something like
    http://forum.brighthand.com/search.php?searchid=1402307
the searchid # will change so making it a Bookmark/Favorite will not work.

    I have
    http://forum.brighthand.com/search.php?do=getdaily
set as my BH Bookmark and never use the Find Posts feature ;)

All the best, woz of oz

Thanks much guys. I'll try those.

Woz, you might have mentioned this before; but how does 'get daily' differ from 'today's posts?'

Woz, I tried yours and changed '2' to 6, 7, and 8 and they all yielded something like 76 results. Is there a limit as to how far back one can go? At this point, it's not that important; but I had read about 80 threads of the 160.

If you mouse over the 'today's posts' link, it is the do=getdaily command.

You can also exclude forums by adding &exclude=<forum number> at the end. For example, to exclude Headlines, &exclude=49

at some point in the past, 'discussion' was changed to 'forum' -- the correct URL is:
    http://forum.brighthand.com/search.php?do=getdaily&days=6

Thanks, Rick! And if you want to exclude a few forums from the mix, try something like http://forum.brighthand.com/search.php?do=getdaily&days=6&exclude=1333,59,1260 :)

Sorry to belabor this issue; but the 'new posts' function failed again. When I checked in today, I clicked new threads, and it said there were 70 (4 pages worth). The first page displayed fine, but when I went to access page 2, it said no entries were available. I used the methods described above and forced out 52 threads; but that obviously misses about 20 threads. Shouldn't there be a better way?

since the function seems able to keep track of when it is run, and when the user has last logged in, I think that between your first page of 20 threads, and the alternate search that turned up 52, that you saw them all.
EDIT: additionally, when I just ran http://forum.brighthand.com/search.php?do=getdaily&days=3, I got results back to the 10th, total of 55 threads
