    What is a DA
Palm cannot multitask but a DA (Desk Accessory) can be launched over the top of the current application. This can be handy for getting info and performing small tasks.
If you have never seen a DA being used and want to know what they look and work like, bring up the Brightness Slider on your Palm and adjust the brightness. Although this is not a DA as such you can see that you are using it without leaving the current app and this is what a DA is designed to do :)

I have been using the following on my TX for a few months now and thought I should try to explain what they do and how to use them :)

    TeikeiDA How to
EDIT: I have Posted the Palm app Web addresses I keep in TeikeiDA in Post # 22 if any of you would like to copy/paste them :)

TeikeiDA v1.3 is a wonderful tool that allows you to keep Templates, ShortCuts and all sorts of info on hand.

The setting up of the Memos Database is the first step.
Here is a simple example of what I use it for.
    Copy the following:

    TeikeiA;LIFE
Buddha Vacana 11th Oct ;Conquer: $\nanger with LOVE $\nevil with GOOD $\nmeanness with GENEROSITY $\nlies with TRUTH $\nMay All be Well and Happy!$p1

Launch Memos and open a New Memo and paste the above in the Memo.

Exit this Memo and open a New Memo, Launch TeikeiDA and you will see the first Column called LIFE (default=A) and the Title Buddha Vacana 11th Oct
    Tap on this and

    Conquer:
    anger with LOVE
    evil with GOOD
    meanness with GENEROSITY
    lies with TRUTH
May All be Well and Happy!

will be Pasted into the Memo.

    NOTES:
There must be nothing before TeikeiA;LIFE in the Memo

    The ; before Conquer... is the 'paste signal' for TeikeiDA and what is to be pasted must come directly after the ;

The $\n is the Carriage Return (PC Enter) and is not pasted.

The $p1 is a special Teikei paste signal and is not pasted. See below for more info.

To make another title and entry go to the next line.

To create a second Column in TeikeiDA again Copy the following:

    TeikeiB;Web
    myKbd v 1.41 @ ZLThemes ;zlthemes.com/ProductDetailListing.php?PID=98$p1
    NVBackup v 1.21 @ SF ;sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=92189&package_id=186018$p1

Launch Memos and open a New Memo and paste the above in the Memo.

Exit this Memo and open a New Memo, Launch TeikeiDA and you will see the 2nd Column is called Web (default=B). Tap Web and you will see:

    myKbd v 1.41 @ ZLThemes
    NVBackup v 1.21 @ SF

I use it to check for updates of my apps so I have my current Version# in the title for quick reference.

When in Blazer I simply Tap the World Icon then Launch TeikeiDA and select the Title eg:
    myKbd v 1.41 @ ZLThemes
    and then
    zlthemes.com/ProductDetailListing.php?PID=98
    is Pasted in the AddressBox.

    NOTE:
$p1 at the end is a special Teikei paste signal that does not leave 'rubbish' behind on the screen.
If not used when in eg: Blazer and pasting in a Text Box then some of the text will be left on the screen as 'rubbish'. Although it does not have any adverse affects that I have found, it is very ugly. $p1 at the end fixes this :)

    Sub Lists:
It is possible to have sublists but these are limited by number and/or amount of text.
Teikei seems to find a happy medium so no real figures can be given.
The following example is the largest sublist I could create with this amount of text but if it is just a sublist of one word titles I can have more in the list.

Copy the following and paste it into the TeikeiB;Web Memo you created before:

    $s2_Pruss A > C_$s2$p1

Copy the following and paste it into a new Memo:

    _Pruss A > C_
    Accessorizer v 0.91 @ 1src ;1src.com/freeware/index.php?cid=8&sb=filename&so=ASC&sh=full&pt=f&page=1$p1
    AutoWiFi v 1.11 @1src ;1src.com/freeware/index.php?cid=21$p1
    CenterMenu v 1.60 @ 1src ;1src.com/freeware/index.php?cid=20$p1
    CenterMenu v 1.60 @ FWP ;freewarepalm.com/authors/alex_pruss_software.shtml$p1
    ChronMemo v 1.05r @ FWP ;freewarepalm.com/authors/alex_pruss_software.shtml$p1
    ClipExtendHack v 1-01 ;palmfreeware.mobi/download-clipextend-v1-00.html$p1

    NOTES:
$s2 at the beginning and end is the Teikei SubList Signal.

_Pruss A > C_ is the Sublist name.
I only put the _ so it is easier for my old eyes to read plus it keeps my sublists in order in Memos. The _ is not necessary.

Open a new Memo and launch TeikeiDA and select Web (Default=B ).
    You will see:
    $s2_Pruss A > C_$s2$p1

Select this and a list will popup that looks like this:

    Accessorizer v 0.91 @ ...
    AutoWiFi v 1.11 @.....
    CenterMenu v 1.60 @ 1src ....
    CenterMenu v 1.60 @ FWP.....
    ChronMemo v 1.05r @ FWP ....
    ClipExtendHack v 1-01 ....

    Select eg:
    Accessorizer v 0.91 @ 1sr...
and the following will be pasted:

    1src.com/freeware/index.php?cid=8&sb=filename&so=ASC&sh=full&pt=f&page=1

To make a list in TeikeiDA that when pasted would look like this:

    Thingie # 1
    Thingie # 2
    Thingie # 3

Copy the following and paste in a new Memo:

    TeikeiD;Thing
    Thingie # 1
    Thingie # 2
    Thingie # 3
    Thingies All ;Thingie # 1 $\nThingie # 2 $\nThingie # 3

Open a new Memo and launch TeikeiDA then select Thing (default D)
    You will see:

    Thingie # 1
    Thingie # 2
    Thingie # 3
    Thingies All

If you select Thingie # 1, 2 or 3 then that is all that will be pasted.
If you select Thingies All then the list:
    Thingie # 1
    Thingie # 2
    Thingie # 3
    will be pasted.

    HINT:
You can drag the highlight in the TeikeiDA window down the list with your stylus.

Of course all of the above example templates can be changed to suit
    your needs.

    FreePadDA- How to

FreePadDA v 0.0.4 is a great Template builder from the same author as TeikeiDA.
It looks like TeikeiDA but with a Notepad on the right where you can organise your page before pasting.

The easiest way to explain it's use is by example.
    Copy the following:

    FreePadA;Meet
    Meeting ;Meeting
    Finance ;Finance
    Attend ;In Attendance:
    Notes ;Notes:
    Phone ;$ph$ph
    Today ;$dd/$mm/$yy
    Date ;$di$dd/$mm/$yy
    Now ;$hh:$mi$\n
    Time ;$t2$hh:$mm
    Paste Clipboard ;$cb
    Tab ;

    NOTE: Put 5 spaces after Tab ;
Go to Memos and open a New Memo.
    Paste the above.

    Copy the following:

    FreePadB;Who
    Sophie ;Sophie Wise- CEO
    John ;Johnny Cash- Accountant

Go to Memos and open a New Memo.
    Paste the above.

NOTES: FreePadA and FreePadB etc are the titles that FreePadDA looks for in Memos. Nothing must come before these titles.
    The ; before Meeting etc is the 'paste signal' for FreePadDA and what is to be pasted must come directly after the ;
To make another title and entry go to the next line (Enter).

Ok, now open a New Memo and launch FreePadDA.
The first column will be called 'Meet' and you will see Titles:
    Meeting
    Finance
    Attend
    ....etc etc

Tap on Today then Now then Tap on EN to go to a new line.
Tap on Finance then Meeting then EN
    Tap on Attend then EN
Tap on the second Column 'Who'.
Tap on Sophie then EN then John

Tap on Paste and the Memo should look like this:

    (Today's Date) (Time Now)
    Finance Meeting
    In Attendance:
    Sophie Wise- CEO
    Johnny Cash- Accountant

You can put the Meet and Who stuff on the same page if you want.
You can also add long Templates.

After setting up your Templates it's easy, enjoy :)

    FDAL How To

FDAL v0.7 This is an edited version of an explanation I found on the Web. My thanks to the author who's name I can't remember, sorry.

FDAL is an app (not a DA) there is an option to enable or disable.

The major advantages of FDAL compared to the Cut/Paste functions are:
    (a) FDAL is invoked by a tap on the screen.
    (b) FDAL has 10 local clipboards
    (c) FDAL can copy from cursor to top or bottom of page.
    (d) FDAL provides the Find button.
    (e) FDAL is also a DA launcher.

    Using:
Highlight text in e.g. Memos, tap the screen to see an FDAL popup window with five buttons and a list of DA's.

Button functions from left to right:
    * D... Delete the highlighted text
    * X... Cut the highlighted text (copy into local clipboard)
    * C... Copy the highlighted text into local clipboard
    * F... Find the highlighted text using the Palm OS global find function.
    * H... History of 10 local clipboards which survive a Soft Reset.

Lower half of the popup window shows the list of DA which can be launched from FDAL directly. Not all DAs can be launched so see the (i) info window for the list of DAs that can be launched.

If no text is selected, tap the screen to see an FDAL popup window with five buttons and a list of DA's.

Button functions from left to right:
    * S... START: Start the text selection at the current cursor position, then:
    * T... TOP: The text selection is from TOP to cursor position
    * E... END: The text selection is from current cursor position to END
    * S... SELECT ALL: Selects all text
    * H... History of 10 local clipboards.

If the other 4 buttons (S,T,E,S) are not tapped, tapping H shows the 10 cliboards and then tap to paste at the current cursor position. Enjoy :)

 LClipDA and ClipExtend Hack How To

LClipDA v2.0 has 10 clipboards and when you get to Copy #11 it deletes the oldest out to make rooom. You can delete them all if you want to start with a 'clean slate'.
Highlight the text and launch LClipDA and it is automatically copied.
To paste in text, with cursor flashing, launch LClipDA and select the clipboard.

Unfortunately it does not recognise the ugly brown text highlight of a Blazer webpage as the native Clipboard does.
It does recognize the normal text in the TextBox though.
The 10 clipboards each exceed the 1,000 character limit of the Palm.
The real bonus is that the 10 clipboards survive a Soft Reset :)

ClipExtendHack by Pruss is the only Hack I use. It needs YAHM but this is included in the Zip.
It breaks the 1,000 character limit of the Palm clipboard.

    daMemopad How To

daMemoPad v0.242 Or download the Zip direct
Write, Edit, Copy/Paste etc to Memos without leaving the app.
Tip: On the title bar tap and hold 'daMem' to make transparent and drag.
Tap on 'oPad(b)' to toggle between full and half screen.

    Blazer Example:
To copy and paste text from Blazer to daMemoPad you just need to first go into Blazer Menu/Preferences and make sure that "Tap and Drag" is set to select text.
Select (highlight) the text then use the CommandBar copy or Blazer/Menu/Edit/Copy then tap the screen to get rid of the highlight.
Launch daMemoPad and go to the Memo you want to paste the text to and then use CommandBar paste or tap 'E' and select paste.

To copy and paste text from daMemoPad to Blazer.
Launch daMemoPad on top of Blazer and go to the required text and highlight.
Use the CommandBar copy or tap 'E' and select copy.
Tap Done then Q to exit daMemoPad then use CommandBar paste or Blazer/Menu/Edit/Paste to paste in Blazer :)

EDIT: I now use ChronMemoDA (which is in the ChronMemo Zip) instead of daMemoPad and it works in a similar way.

Hope you find these as useful as I have :D

All the best, woz of oz

I can't find FDAL Woz? Could you provide a link directly to that app, please? It sounds really cool - the link in the post just takes me to Muchy's main DA list.

I've been using TeikeiDA (mainly for user names and passwords), LClipDA & DAmemopad for quite sometime - but I've never heard of FDAL before. Thanks for the great post!!

Hi PCQ, sorry about that, I fixed the Link
It is at Muchy but not on the DA page because it is not a DA, I really should read my own posts

After using FDAL for a while I can't do without it.
All the Copy/Paste, Text select, Clipboards, DAs etc there in a Popup window.
At first it may seem to be a bit frustrating but there is a definite way of tappiing on the screen to launch the Popup or not. I can't explain it, just needs time and practice and it comes naturally.
If it does Popup and you don't want it just Tap outside FDAL and it will go away but leave your text highlighted etc.

The very clever Author has thought of everything :)

EDIT: Changed the Link to daMemopad also as the Muchy one does not seem to work anymore.
    Teikei Link is now v1.3

    Really useful stuff wozofoz...thanks.

Just thought I would mention FDAL is now at 0.7. Here is a link to its home page (google translated) PQC.

and here is a link to the Japanese site from which I tracked it down - its got all the usual stuff that you see on palmgear etc but it also has some of the more obscure Japanese stuff and unlike Muchy's it is still being updated regularly.

Hope this is useful too to someone!

    Japanese developers are really talented.

Even on my Sony PSP, the games I like most and think are innovative happen to be japanese as well.

Your thanks are much appreciated everyone :)

Thank you for the FDAL update link sweetpureday :)
I updated the Link in my OP.

NOTE: Anyone using Blazer and Skweezer, I did try to go to the FDAL author's homepage as I always do but could not get to it.
You must go there through only Blazer and of course you should not Download a Zip through Skweezer or Mobileleap anyway as it gets corrupted.

Thanks Woz & SweetPureDay... I've downloaded FDAL, and it looks quite handy - but I can't get it to work with Docs2Go v9 :( Am I doing something wrong? Or is this just a conflict?

Hi PCQ, I don't use D2G so I was hoping someone who does could answer.

I have read in the past of D2G users being unable to use some 3rd party keyboard apps as well as various other apps while in D2G and I know that CutPaste5 does not show up in the CommandBar while in D2G.

I guess that it is just a D2G thing but I don't know why
