Thanks! The G4 is to arrive on Monday. I'm pretty busy until then. Leaders and myself from our church are attending the Global Leadership Summit on Thursday and Friday but I'll miss Friday's session because somebody decided to get engaged at Christmas and married on Saturday. Mrs scjjtt is taking Friday off from teaching (well, she is now at the Jr. High and is the Title 1 Specialist which is over all the testing and training of new teachers and helping others) so we have to get the rehearsal dinner ready for Friday.

The wedding is on Saturday. Son and daughter-in-law have done about all the setting up, purchasing Costco food and decorations but we'll have to arrange clean up and getting things ready for Sunday. Everything is happening at our church, using the sanctuary for the ceremony and the Family Life Center's gym, stage and kitchen for the the reception. Fortunately I scheduled a guest evangelist that we've used multiple times to fill in on Sunday so I don't have to think about any sermon prep this week.

It's an exciting week - I wish I had my v10 but there will be a professional photographer to take great pics!

Seems it was wise to be "cautiously" happy a few posts back as I reported my V10 was alive again. It just bootlooped again. The exact same thing happened: phone crashed, the green Demigod screen appeared, phone completely unresponsive, and after removing/replacing battery again stuck in a bootloop. I have a few options to consider: 1) I can attempt the fix again, perhaps baking the mainboard at higher temperature and improving the heat sink interface, or 2) I can start tinkering with the second bootlooped V10 which was delivered yesterday, or 3) I can take either or both devices to a cell technician I know, see what he thinks about it, or 4) I can give up on the V10 completely. I'm in the city for the weekend, and I don't have my tools with me, so I can't try options 1 and 2. Option 3 will have to wait until Monday, and option 4 will have to wait until I get money for a new phone. I'm having gadget withdrawal symptoms again, so I borrowed my wife's LG G-Pad 8.3, which luckily supports SDXC cards, and my LG Optimus L7 is back on duty as my tiny main phone :D . At least I have a large screen to watch my movies and read my books, although at 8.3" the G-Pad is not pocketable at all. I'll have to start wearing my shoulder bag (not a murse, I'm warning you, lelisa! :D) to carry the G-Pad. Too bad that of the three LG devices in my household, the most powerful, most expensive, and my favorite one, is the only one that has failed.

I had been elevating LG in my mind over the years, probably starting with the Nexus 4, as a brand that offered a lot of value. It really seemed like they were producing good kit and charging reasonably at all levels. To see you guys getting hurt by a flagship level device really wipes all that brand equity away. I hope you're both able to make things work well enough, but it stinks that you have to deal with this on what looked like such a nice device.

raspy, I was so hopeful from your post and work on the v10. I guess I'm going to have to contact LG and see if they will send me a replacement like they did my son-in-law.

By the way, my son-in-law gave one of his v10's to our son's new bride. I don't know if that is a blessing or a curse. My son-in-law is going to buy the new Samsung S8 or Note as soon as it comes out.

I'm still using Mrs scjjtt's S4. I really miss having a flagship phone that is a phone and not tablet that also takes and receives calls. I remember when cell phones were coming out and looking forward to the day that a cell phone would be the size of my pager and I could wear it on my belt. Actually I think my favorite size phone was my 4'' Samsung Epic 4G. The Samsung S4 feels pretty good though after using the LG v10 for 9 months. The LG G4 is a little smaller than the v10 so....

I think tomorrow I'm going to try to get the G4 up and running. I'm getting an epidural shot in my back early in the morning and the best thing to do is to rest and let it take it's affect. It's a good excuse to lie in bed and do a fresh loading of apps onto the LG G4.

Hope things improve for your back, Scott (and your phones as well, but, sorry, I care more about you than your phones ). I had the epidural followed by a spinal injection about a month ago. Not sure if what you are doing is the same, but it did bring me some real relief.

Getting old is not for sissies. :vbwink::vbrolleyes:

Thanks Rick and Hook! Compare to most people with back problems I have nothing to really complain about. I too care more about my phone than my back - as of right now . I do have issues with my back but I'm in pretty good health, losing weight, exercising and for 12 of the past 14 years have seen a chiropractor weekly and now I see him bi-weekly. My mother is 82 and bound to only a chair or a bed due to back pain. I believe by being proactive and smart on this I can remain healthy.

Yes Hook, that is what I'm having. In 2002 I had successful back surgery. For 9 months leading up to that I couldn't sit or lay down without a high level of pain. The surgeon was highly regarded in Syracuse, NY. Everyone I had meet who had him as a surgeon had success. Now other things are developing and I have a good D.O. who was recommended to me by a back surgeon. I live with either no pain or a level of 2-3 at times. This D.O. is just being aggressive and helping me to remain healthy.

I have a lot to be thankful for. I see so many people in their office who are in so much pain, it almost makes me feel guilty to be in there, but none of us are getting any younger and I want to avoid what has happen to my mother.

But thanks for your concerns about my phones!

I'm glad you're finding relief to your back pain, Scott. And it feels very good to lose weight. I haven't been able to reach my goal of losing 30kg yet - I'm still stuck 8kg short of that. Still, losing over 20kg has been quite an accomplishment. Just today I was going through my wardrobe and there's half a dozen shirts and pants that I'll have to throw or give away, since they're too large for me now.

As for my phone... I finally gave up on the V10. I wasn't able to get either device to recover from the bootloop. I also tried option 3, and called the technician I know and he said the only sure cure is to replace the mainboard, but there's no guarantee that the replacement won't fail some time or other. I don't want to spend more time or money on this. I'll keep using my L7 and G-Pad combo, and perhaps a few months from now I'll be able to get another flagship. I have more urgent expenses right now. I'm very sad and annoyed about losing my V10, but in all honesty I can cover most of my needs with the phone/tablet combo.

I could get by with this S4 too. I use my tablet a lot - which is problem why I would like my flagship to be smaller.

I wish the best for you & the next time you ask us for suggestions & recommendation on a phone - I'm staying out of the discussion.
