    Hello!
I'm hoping someone can help. I've spent hours trying to do hotsync with my new Z22. I have the palm software installed on my computer (windows xp). I connect the cable and try to sync and get the following messages:

On the computer: Could not load the installer (long number). Contact your hardware vendor for assistance.

I can't get the hardware wizard to help with this, even with the palm CD.

On the Z22 I get: The connection between your device and desktop could not be established.

    Here are my logs:

I'm just a novice with a TlX, but this is what works everytime for me. Click "Start" on PC Click "Palm Desktop"
With your Palm turned off, Hook it to Cradle/Cable, Palm should power up, if not hit Home button. Enter Password Tap "Applications" Tap "HotSync" Tap HotSync" Symbol. I never touch the Sync Button on the Cradle/Cable.

    Welcome to Brighthand sydny819.

What Windows OS are you using on your computer? If it's Vista I can offer no help as I plan not to get near it until many months from now, if at all.

In Windows 2000 and XP, there are certain requirements:

You must be the only person logged on to the computer and you must have Admin Priveleges.

All other running applications should be turned off.

The Hotsync Log is found by clicking the Hotsync icon in system tray and selecting Log.

    Welcome to Brighthand, sydny819!

DT, the OP did say the OS is Windows XP, but I'm still at a loss here.

Sydny819 -- are you trying to hotsync with the cable attached? Click on the Hotsync manager icon in the system tray and make sure Local USB is checked.

All of these paths are to the "Start Menu" shortcuts, and I don't think that is the way it should be. Right-click the Palm Desktop icon and chage the Path to c:\program files\palm\palm.exe. If that does not work I would uninstall and reinstall Palm Desktop software.

    Welcome to Brighthand, sydny819.

Do what Josser suggests - as ever, he's hit the nail on the head.
