Apple Warns Against Closing MacBooks With a Cover Over the Camera

    I like Lenovo's solution. They literally just build a shutter into the camera assembly with a little friction switch. You just slide it open and closed with your finger. You can't see it unless you look closely, it doesn't bulk up the screen, and it is a lot more solid than a post-it, plus since it's a basic and easy hardware cover there's no risk of software being hacked. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.

    My work-issued Dell laptop has a shutter, too.

    Certainly a more permanent solution would be great. By now, most laptops should have a shutter built in as headcronie shows. (I had a Lenovo that didn't have that, but it was a cheap one.) One would have thought that Apple would have solved that by now, given their generally good ergonomics and security.
