Both! But in this case, I'll choose B) Up too early, since this is one of those rare days when I could have slept in. I think I'll have a nap now.

    Ummm...

    Uh-oh... I have to semi-think for a moment, don't I?

    Let's see...

Family events: Go to / participate in every little thing all the time -OR- Hit mostly just the big ones and send regards for the smaller stuff?

Pssstt!!! Thanks for the Easter Beans! :)

I'm going to have to say neither, and make a new one.

I'll play the Take A Third Option card here and vouch for a (W)VGA Windows Mobile device with long battery life, a memory card 16 GB or bigger installed, TCPMP, and Kinoma Play, along with any specialized players for chiptune formats.

When it comes to multimedia, I don't care about iTunes sync or anything like that and will probably not notice any sound quality improvements. What I DO care about is that it plays every single format I can find without conversion, and in the case of Matroska-packaged videos (.MKV) or similar, be able to switch between audio and subtitle streams. I don't think anything short of a full-blown computer with specialized apps will be able to fulfill that.

    Foreign language works:

    A) Trust in someone else's translation of the material, even if they may have taken many liberties with the script
    B) Learn the language yourself and read/listen to the original script, unaltered

(An IRC conversation from last night made me think about this.)

I'd vote for B, but that is a definite "long-term goal".

A perfect example of the problems your question can produce is Sunday's (3/28) Doonesbury comic... Check it out tomorrow! (I get the comics early in my local paper!) ;)

Would you rather A) experience an incredible virtual experience with sound, vision, and physical input, with no danger involved or

    B) Experience the real thing?

I wanted to see if someone else would answer this, as it's a good one...guess not.

Anyway, while experiencing the real thing is nice, I'm not sure I would want the danger involved in, say, piloting an actual F-16 through hostile skies, having to put up with enemy fire and all the forces being exerted on the body while maneuvering around-not to mention that I can pause it if I feel like taking a break, and if something goes wrong, just load the last save file!

    Interfaces:

    A) One input device to do everything
    B) Specialized input devices for different purposes

(Sadly, we currently don't have the tech to feed our brains a direct tactile experience of something that isn't there, so I'll have to keep stashed a bunch of varied gaming peripherals for the time being.)
