At&t expanding their network? (Maybe caused by Verizon Ads)

Earlier this morning my friend had 3g on his iPhone.
He has never before had this. We are in Hendersonville, NC.
I think the closest city that has 3G is Charlotte.

He has always had edge for at least 2 years that he has had a smartphone.

You think Verizon's ads are making AT&T upgrade their network?

There is a never ending war of infrastructure upgrades and smack talk going on between Att, Verizon, Sprint and Tmo. I doubt Att did anything because of Verizon's ads but they have always said they are "continuously" upgrading their network. I think this is just a coincidence. If we all wait until late 2010 (probably more like 20maybe) we will all be on 4G and able to use any 4G phone on any US carrier. Just remember as I say this, that when I was hearing about how great 3G was going to be it was 2001.

Sounds like a simple coincidence. ALL the major networks are constantly erecting/updating new towers, etc. Still, they may have re-prioritized their capital spending; because I think that Verizon campaign hit hard. Their 'rejoinder' is pretty lame. They show a much more deceptive map, showing 'all' their coverage. And Luke Wilson as spokesman doesn't help.

I don't think a map, showing all their coverage is deceptive at all. Its just make clear what you are getting. While Verizon's add shows what you are getting in terms of 3G coverage. They are both "fair" ads

(Although that fact that AT&T 3G coverage is technologically faster and better is something I'd high light if I were them)

Its certainly fast, theoretically(AT&T is 7.2Mbps, Verizon is lower) .....ands its "better" in that it supports voice and internet at the same time.

Coverage might be a different story, but from the technology side, the winner is clear.
