    Question

I looked for info on the SIM srvcs (search on Google.com) and came up with this link: http://www.digit-life.com/articles/handspringtreo180/

"The main menu got some new standard applications. The SIM Book allows you to read data recorded in the phone book of the SIM card; SIM srvcs (services) - if the card supports this function; SMS - for reading and writing short messages; you can choose for your text a phone number from the address book or a template.

All it states is the SIM srvcs must be supported by the SIM card. It appears to my eyes to be some type of WAP-based services. Can you provide more clarification on exactly what these services are?

Also found the following discusson thread at: http://www.wirelessadvisor.com/wafor...&threadid=5609

"I have a Handspring Treo 270 with Voicestream service. When I get a voicemail message, I get an SMS message notifying me but no voicemail icon. Handspring says that is the function of the cellular service and Voicestream says that Treo does not support the Icon?

    Who is lying? "

"The Treo uses the CPHS Voicemail Indicator (6F11) and the Mailbox number (6F17) from the SIM card to retrieve voicemail status from the service provider's voicemail number.

From what I understand, Voicestream is not correctly sending the account information to the SIM. YOU MUST CONTACT Voicestream and have them send your account setup to your SIM. You will get a message (SMS) saying that your SIM has been activated when this is complete. You can then verify this by selecting SIM Services application on your Treo and your account number (phone number) and some other VS information will be displayed."

The XDA/T-Mobile/SX-56/Etc. don't really have a need for WAP-based services, as they ship with PocketIE and have the ability to load complete web pages. There are also other third-party browsers currently available and in beta (do a search on the forum). To check weather, stocks, etc. you can use PDA-specific sites such as Yubee.com (I use it almost daily).

    Does this help???
