Palm IIIe to Outlook & Palm Zire 71 to Palm Desktop
Just gave my wife my old Palm IIIe after getting a new Zire 71.
I always sync to the Palm Desktop, but I'd like my wife to be able to sync her Palm IIIe to Outlook while I can sync my Palm Zire 71 to Palm Desktop. That way, our seperate calenders and contacts don't get merged together.
The Palm IIIe serial cradle works fine and I have Intellisync to sync with outlook, but then Zire then starts trying to sync with outlook.
So....how do I sync Palm IIIe to Outlook & Palm Zire 71 to Palm Desktop? Yes, both handhelds have their own identity

You will likely need to manually control which hotsync app is open when you desire to sync. Hotsync manger for you and Isysnc for wife. Remove functions from startup apps may resolve.
The Palm hotsync manger can only direct each Palm app to either Outlook or Palm desktop. If you share the same Palm desktop installation, the Palm desktop will keey information seperate for each Palm unit ist synchronizes, ( I have five units on home system presently)
If you are using Win XP, each user ID can have own Palm desktop and /or Hotsync pathway established. Controled at install. But user installing must have admin rights. (Palm desktop does not support user switching, full log off and new log on required)Welcome to Brighthand

I have a iiixe.
I got an E
I am running XP Home.
I discovered that you have to get the new desktop software running correctly you have to:
1. remove "Robotics" entries from registry (there is a post that describes how).
2. install the new desktop for each user (you cannot install it once and have both users access the software).
When I did that both the E and IIIxe can be used, each by separage users from different userIDs.
However, see my recent post about:
not backward compatible?? Desktop 4.1.2 w/Hotsync 4.1.0
