Default Will Feature in Windows Mobile Device Center be Added to ActiveSync 4.5?

The feature advertised in Microsoft Mobile Device Center is this:

    • Allow data connections on the Windows Mobile 6 device when connected to the PC

I assume this means that although you may have your PPC connected physically to a PC with ActiveSync (mine is in Guest mode just to be able to move files from the PC and PPC), one can still receive network (e.g., Sprint PCS) updates.

If that is the case, it would be nice to see that same feature in ActiveSync 4.5. Does anyone have any additional thoughts on this?

    Thanks,

Microsoft has officially declared that it will no longer be releasing new versions of Windows XP or ActiveSync, though it will - for a time - release updates that fix security and compatibility programs.

What this means is that Microsoft will grudgingly provide some support for ActiveSync, just enough to correct the flaws and bugs in the product or help gaurantee compatibility with other Microsoft products (like new licensed WM devices). It's very unlikely that you'll see any real improvements or new features incorporated into ActiveSync ... they want you to buy Vista.

I read this as a simple declaration that you can sync the device with your PC; the main item of interest being the Sync software built into the device's WM, and all the right hardware cables or connectors. You could use ActiveSync or Sync Center - it's determined by your PC's version of Windows.

    Just my thoughts.
