    Default Unlocked Phone & 3G

This may sound stupid but do I need to configure anything to get 3G (only voice and text)? Other then just make sure that the phone is compatible with At&t 3G frequencies, 850/1900mhz.

I am NOT going to use the phone for data usage.

    Thx guys

No, you don't need to do anything. I'll assume you know to make sure you explicitly disable data in settings (assuming Android).

If it's not originally an AT&T phone, you might need to configure the MMS gateway settings in order to get MMS working. This wouldn't affect basic text messaging, though.

    Thanks guys.

Hook: I don't know how to disable the data...yet, because obviously I don't have an Android phone.
Adama: I am sacrificing MMS, cause I don't want to risk it to get any surprise from At&t. So NO data at all.

It is the same place as on your SGP4, under wireless settings. If you never use data, you turn it off there. If you occasionally use it, might want a home screen toggle to turn it off and on. Many to choose from. 3G Watchdog will both monitor your data use in a widget and provides an on/off toggle widget.
