Re: Windows phone vs Android
I think im sold on getting a windows phone now I just need to go pick one out.
The only thing im really nervous about now is if I should wait until the Windows 8 phones come out? I don't want to buy a phone now and then not be able to update or use certain features once WP8 comes out.

Okay, push notifications from the FB app involve the vibration feature going off, a beep, and the notification appearing briefly on the top of the screen. This happens even when the phone is sleeping. However, it appears there appears to be a significant delay (about 15 minutes) from when they go up on FB and when they appear on your phone.
One upside of the FB WP7 notification system is you have incredible control over what prompts a notification. Wall posts? Feed comment reply? Photo comment? Private message? Etc. Each can be turned on and off individually.Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.

Re: Windows phone vs Android
The only two WP phones worth looking at right now are the Lumia 900 (great price, gorgeous case, gorgeous screen) and the HTC Titan II (amazing camera, roomy 4.7" screen, comfortable to hold). Other US options are underwhelming, though the HTC Arrive, aka the HTC 7 Pro, is worth looking at if you like physical keyboards.
If you can afford to wait four or five months, I would wait for WP8 to release. As for app compatibility, we just don't know what will be there. It might be a non-issue or it might be a major issue where nothing released after November works on WP7 phones. And not knowing is a bit scary. But we DO know one thing: WP8 phones are confirmed to offer two important things that WP7 phones can't offer (multi-core processors and high-res screens). There are also credible rumors of a WP8 Lumia flagship with a PureView camera on the way, and that's going to be amazeballs.
On the other hand, the reason the Lumia 900 is so cheap is because WP7 phones aren't selling well right now. You won't get that quality of a case and screen for anything near $50-plus-plan when WP8 drops. If the price is a big deal, I'd pull the trigger right now on a Lumia 900. It's easily the best $50 phone on the market right now, and you won't see another deal like that for a while.Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.

Re: Windows phone vs Android
Thanks to your help I think I know what im going to do.
I'm not in a major panic since my iphone 4 is in perfect condition still (i just want to get rid of it because it is such a boring phone, should also mention i hate iTuens). So I'm going to wait until the win8 phones come out and get myself one of those

Now I just have to try and be patient... and that is one thing I am TERRIBLE at.

Re: Windows phone vs Android
One nitpick with WP7 FB push notifications...tapping the push notification drops you into the FB app, but doesn't take you to the specific post that you were notified about. You then have to push the notification button in the app and select the most recent notification. Dumb.
EDIT: about patience, you and me both. I'm terrible at waiting. I'm counting the weeks until the Surface RT (October 2012) and the until my contract is up for a new phone (early 2013).Samsung Galaxy S III (U.S. Cellular, unrooted, Launcher8). My review.

Haha! I know what you mean. I never wait until my contract is up.... I tend to buy a new phone every 1.5-2ish years!

Re: Windows phone vs Android
Hey vlazy, nice to meet you too!
atm I got an iphone4 and I can really understand your issue about the battery life, but you shouldn't pick your smarthphone by comparing the battery life only. I guess it is a general smartphone problem...I kind of getting along with it, dockingstations everywhere
but what I really want to tell you is: don't you even think of getting a window phone! I tried one for about a month and it really drove me crazy...the usabilitiy is miserable, the complete sofware is actually...especially now that you are used to iOS!
best regards,

Re: Windows phone vs Android
I rarely see iPhone owners getting frustrated withe their phones. Probably you are the first one I know. Coming to the point, battery power usually depends on the usage. Battery extends more during the idle or standby times. Medium usage, medium battery power, the more it is used the faster battery gets drained out. However the iPhone's battery life is better than the Android or the Windows phones.
